Interesting finds as always, and I love the translucent plastic theme on these two. I don't know the Lavagirl prior to seeing her here, but I also had one of those Creatures I picked up from a garage sale as well back in the day.
Went thrift shopping feel like that is close enough lol anyway I found these old dentist example teeth and had to have them lol View this post on Instagram
That creature is like a (very) little squirt gun. Stick him underwater, squeeze and release his stomach to fill him up with water. Squeeze his stomach again and he will spit evil creature juice.
Thanks Biff!! Even though I owned this toy, I had no idea he had this function (though now I can finally get an idea of what his chest cavity is supposed to do).
Kamen Rider Black RX Bandai 1995 / 3.5" high One of those rare charity shop finds when my eyes pop out on stalks . . . . 50p. Its a friction drive with a retractable kick-stand so you can display him on a shelf upright.
What in the other worlds? Looks like he could be the T-800's wonky cousin... by way of Star Wars. Someone out there might recognise him, but with all the dimestore bootlegs and random sci-fi/robot toys out there, coupled with the lack of any markings and paint 'job' on him, he could easily be a a cheap - but sweet! - rack toy, too. I can certainly imagine a heap of quirky backstories for this fella.
Yeah, i was guessing a bootleg of a licensed character, but its just as likely some 'random' robot. Its got a lot of charm, either way . . .
I have been informed that it is part of the Arco 'Robot Zone' series...never heard of it til now..looks like a fun line
@doomboy Yep, that is it. A fairly obscure mid-80's toy line. Looks pretty cool, I've never heard of it before now. ARCO are the company that made the remote control 'Battling Bugs' Scorpion i found a while ago . . . Thanks for the info!
Glittery souvenir time. Four snow-globes i've picked up over the last few years. Or should i say 'sand-pyramids' . . . Vintage 'Rainbow' badges from the long running UK TV series. I watched the show growing up.
@doomboy Thanks for the ID! Gonna have to do some reading up on the line myself. Finally(!) got out to my first car boot in the area. Didn't come home with much at all, spent a whole 70p, fifty of which was on these fellas. A couple of bootleg (I believe) poly Calimero keyrings. These are quite large in fact, a good 10.5 cm from feet to shell, and of course made of thin, cheap plastic, which leads me to think they were not the greatest or most practical of things to hang your keys upon. Nevertheless, could not say no to them. Sadly one lost his eyes somewhere along the way - if he had them - and the other fella might have homemade replacements. I might look into replacing them with some decals if I come across any, or someone knows a good way to make some. Moog, one of these is easily yours if you are keen, as it seems like something you would appreciate.
@ultrakaiju Nice find, reminds me of the early Takara mascot (below). Its funny, i picked up a more official looking Calimero figure a few weeks back. Those do look like bootlegs dont they? As for the decals, those surviving ones look hand-drawn with a marker pen in the photo. And you are correct, sir . . . i would appreciate one of 'em!
I used to have one of those too, but it was quite small, and hard plastic (probably another keychain, which had long since lost its ring). These guys are quite thin and light. Oh, and you are absolutely right about the eyes I think. Even cutting out a circle from the 'waste' edge of another sticker, and using a sharpie to draw a circle (you know, for someone not like me, who has talent and a steady hand) would work wonders I bet. Consider it yours then, good sir. I will hand it over to you should be have a meet up one of these days, or drop this guy in the post soon enough.
Funko 'Happy Tree Friends' bobble heads. These were £1 each at a boot-sale. They were covered in a thick and sticky layer of Nicotine. Took me lots of meditative cleaning to get them back to the way they should look . . .
You are right ! And It took me yeeaarrss to correctly identify this beloved toyline from my childhood memories. I'm not regularly a fan of bendies, but when it works, it works and these well designed figures were super fun, brightly colored bots with connectable parts and weapons, and the ability to bend and connect to form different robots. I loved it and have since been able to track down the 4 original robot sets. What you have there @The Moog is the main robot from this set : Anyone who has won the sb holiday raffle I've done here the last couple of years received one of these hard plastic versions of the Arco Robot Zone minis (titled Ro-Gun Robots), which originally came in either solid blue, red, or black. I believe this pic shows all of the characters available : They were packaged in bags of 40 like so : And later released again by Arco in neon colors under the title Space Creatures : But yeah, Robot Zone was the best. Congrats on finding one in the wild. They're usually pretty hard to come across. *none of these images belong to me.
Wow, thanks for all that info, JP! Not something I have ever come across, but I can immediately see the fond memories possible with them. So great to be able to track down these obscure toys from childhood which mean(t) so much to us, but most others might hardly know of or even care about.
@boon velvet Wow, i didn't see the hard plastic versions when i was looking these up. The neon ones are really cool as well. Thanks, for sharing. I will be keeping an eye out for both types from now on, i might get lucky someday. Oh, to find a whole box of 'em!
