Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Others

I try to post by HxS collection every time there's a lotto, but then remember I don't actually have one.
The closet I've got is the recent Thrasher magazine with Pushead's Itamu art in the back.

One well....one day...maybe?

I hope some folks here win and post some pics.

Some of the cheerleading/fanboy/plain fuckin' needy posts and comments just bigger belief . . . but the same can be said about a shit-ton of other manufacturers too!

 

Yeah one word responses don't really carry much weight in an argument. I've owned both a Mecha Ju and many vintage toys so I can at least speak from having both in hand. I'd really miss some vintage toys if I had to sell or lost them, where as I no longer have the Mecha Ju and don't really think about it. Just my opinion, to each their own.

 

I don't understand this the most, creating awareness, decreasing your own chances and then on the other hand hoping to win?

 

@des_yeo03 Definitely some one legged duck swimming in a circle shit. I tend to assume people are just excited, though, and post without really thinking about much but the adrenaline for the prospect of winning.

 

It has to be an element of mindless bandwagon-ing - as in "oh yeah I know HxS too, look at me I'm educated in sofubi, can we be friends, let's go line up outside Uniqlo for KawsxSnoopy bullshit together". Or maybe they are wise enough to realize that they are not going to win the lottery and still want to get some likes for posting underneath the HxS hashtag..

I think the most annoying out of all of these cult-like one-worded comments underneath hyped instagram toy posts is the classic " " (replace with hearts for eyes)

 

I could pontificate on why a one word response is justified, but I will keep it short:
You are posting in a thread for a line "You've Long Since Forgotten."...and to that end, I stand by my nope.

 

What is HXS's instagram account? When I search the hashtags I just get millions of random lottery hopefuls but not his account. I've been watching the blog ever since he posted the new piece which looks amazing btw. Then I just saw the lottery ended blog post and was crushed that I derped on this one. I genuinely enjoy collecting gorillas but have yet to land a mech, after retail seems impossible.

 

if the toy makers need to see me blowing up IG with only toy photos, then they've forgotten the joy their toys bring on hand and not through a screen.

Im fine with just applying and crossing my fingers.

 

It's a public forum, I don't have to be all into a toy line to comment on it. You know there is this feature on the top of the board page called "new posts" that you can click on? Yeah well that leads you to all the new posts. I click many of those I'm not specifically into if I see a plethora of posts coming quickly to see what the fuss is about.

So here's an analogy for you....I don't knowingly swim in a polluted lake but if I noticed others are I can go down there and let them know it's polluted. Doesn't mean I wanted to go in the first place.

Do you reckon Rick would collect HxS?

 

If an artist is doing what they do for the right reason ie: making a creation they hope others will enjoy & actively trying to see said work get in the hands of those who truly appreciate it, IG can potentially be a useful tool in the vetting process of lottery applicants. Sure it's not a fool-proof method, but since this boom of increased interest in the hobby, every bit helps.

I don't think makers necessarily need to see one's IG blowing up with only toy pics (maybe some do... who knows?), but on the same token people drift in and out of this hobby... and again, it's another resource to gauge one's current interest in their work.

 

Our minds are always taking a turn for the worst with these types of things. It makes the threads lame. Bitter and what not. He makes nice toys. people like them. He's made a name for himself and has been consistent in how he offers them. Some folks are lucky, some aren't, and some have deep pockets, some don't. ..and this scene (like many) have their vampires. It hasn't changed, so people will do what they can to curb the suckitude.

Honestly I gave it a try when the coco brutal A dropped and it helped not at all. I didn't even enter this last lotto. I am more and more losing my interest in hard to get toys. I enjoy taking pictures and I enjoy filling out my shelves and rearranging them. I don't feel the need to consume hype or to try for the unobtainable. I think once I realized unless I was willing to pay $1200 minimum to own an Itamu I lost Interest in HxS near completely.

 

I can wait it out till all the hipsters and overseas deep pockets move on.

Well stated. After being on the board for 10 years...everything happens in waves. In the beginning I didn't get it but now??? 100% understand it.

I will say that I am always happy to the members who privately make behind the scenes transactions at retail. I'm always floored by it.
