I am going to use @Anti Social Andy's word, "landfill material" to refer to the new sub-standard toys we've seen as of late.

Nate and I have scaled down to core collecting. Not interested in recent ones we have seen. Honestly, it saves us money.

When I see the hype and scramble for these new releases, I can't help but wonder were we like that on our early days of collecting? I hope we had better taste. I am going to pre-emptively tell @stinkupuss to shut up and about my Bwana collection. ;D

Not all OG collectors I think have moved on. They just know what they want to collect and collect it. Quietly.

We were just as bad. No doubt about it! Nothing has changed, haha
There's so many sofubi lines--new and old. It can be time consuming and hella expensive to go after all kinds of sofubi toy releases for a long stretch--or even to collect almost everything in one line. I got smart and started to collect within my means...for me that meant finding a focus and setting up rules within the focus. It's been way more enjoyable for me.

We ran out of room a long time ago and I am packing away sets and Nate said why are you packing them away? When will we get to display them again? If you're packing them away then it's OK not to see them, why not let them go?

Nate's already at a place in collecting where I can't even begin to consider it. He's OK to let go of some of the hoard. He's OK to pass on toys if we missed it. I'm the one holding us back I think from progressing our collection into a collection instead of a hoard.

I don't know. I think we've reached the state in life where I want to display and own choice pieces. We've been contemplating purging and purging but I think he's serious this time and I am running out of excuses to say no.

So I was scrolling through various Kamen Rider videos on the 'Tube. Found this one and seeing all the Riders lined up the way they are reminded me of some of the RxH line ups posted on this forum and IG. Had to share.

Well it will happen when/if it does, you know? It's different for everybody :)
Post some pics of your favorite RxH releases here some time. That'd be cool to see.

I've thought about taking some of my new vinyls down to a local toy show just to see what people say/do.

I think more ppl will like them than hate them or accept them at least as something different. You just have to remind them this isn't something you can just go to the store and buy though lol.

I've been in talks with a children's museum about a possible temporary display/exhibit along with thinking of other avenues to share with the public.

We have a toy fair every 6 months here in Brisbane - 80% of the tables are flea market fodder (Star Wars, X-Men, TMNT, Power Rangers etc).. I took maybe 30 pieces of sofubi with me and sold a few bits however it was to people who already collected that sort of thing. The general public (people wearing Coca-Cola/Formula One Racing shirts) would just look at them and frown like it didn't compute.. they couldn't recognize any of the characters and they didn't want to investigate further. Some kids came up and had a look throughout the day, some looked scared some thought the monsters were awesome..

Best anecdote I can remember in relation to children's reactions to sofubi happened to a friend of mine down in Melbourne (Jack who runs Soft Vinyl Garden shows) - a little kid flipped out over Kumons and had no idea about the story behind the toy at all, he was just super excited about what he saw and had to have one so his parents bought it for him. The little guy had good taste already at such a young age! Hopefully you get lots of kids started early like this guy if you do end up having a display at a children's museum.. I'm sure lots of toymakers would love to have a younger fanbase of kids who would actually play with their toys.

    Would love to see it.

By the way some of the recent punk drunkers releases have been fantastic, however the price points are ridiculous on the aftermarket. However that's been the trend for at least 3+ years.

Aftermarket prices really make me want to quit collecting a lot of these good toy lines. Pretty sad.

This absolutely rules. This Christmas I gave a couple of Elegabs to my co-worker's children. I was told that apparently the one I gave to the three-year-old was the biggest hit of the day, and now he is constantly playing with his "crazy monster" as he calls it haha.

    Ok, sorry for the derail.

@GhostTrainGray yeah these days the average after-market RxH seem to cost bombs.

Yes, there are several releases with eye variations in the past with the classic fighter and minis

Not sure if i understand correctly...
In general i don't think there is any significance to the difference.
Although in one of the black mini chaosman release, the pink eye version seems to be rarest among the lot.
As i collect mainly mutant evils, I also found an eye colour variation in a couple of the micro evil releases.

@DangerDoom Who are you? That's a really specific question for someone with 3 posts total.

Some versions of the Chaos have eye color variations. For example, the old orange Mutant Chaos was found with both blue and red eye variants, although the blue seems to be far more common. I can't think of too many cases where there were eye variations within a production run, and I'm also not aware of any specific reason for the variation.

However, these apparent variants can be the result of gift or lottery items, i.e., a production version Chaos is given a special scarf or different eye color and given away as a gift or lottery prize.
