Unoblab had the money and refunded it. Tan has the second release because he painted them. (And if he produces them I would assume has the molds?) Tan Said on IG that he will send them out to the winners for free as an apology. I will post here when I receive it. Or a shipment notice.
Just heard back from co.oc29 and jcaktopz. co.oc29 sculpted the PigPigMan, and as soon as Tan got his hands on the sculpt, he began distancing himself and claiming the sculpt as his own. Chen himself says that Tan is more of a "businessman" than an artist, and is just trying to appeal to the exploding Chinese sofubi market. Now, what jcaktopz had to say is pretty darn interesting. He says that NONE of Tan's toys were sculpted by Tan himself. Not Mimi, not Pigman, not Telebobo, and not even the upcoming "birdman." In other words, Tan can't sculpt. Like Rich said, that's fine. A lot of people don't sculpt their own toys, but Tan claims that HE DID. So there we are, folks. Believe what you want, but for me the illusion is 100% shattered and we have nothing left but a guy who saw an opening in the world of sofubi, used the talent of others to pretend to be an upcoming sculptor/painter, and made lots of cash off of Instagram hype keeping up that facade. To my understanding the person behind unoblab wanted the money from 3 releases in order to leave the brand, since tan did not want to give him that, he changed the password, made a secret sale with a ridiculous high price that "might" add to the 3 releases he was asking for, and then exposed tan to ruin the brand on his way out... To me tan might have not been completely straight up about his designs but this guy shouldnt portray himself as a victim, because in the end he basically got what he wanted and some..
No quite, I can read Chinese from their conversation Tan said he is short on cash and need money for buying stuffs so he asked Unoblab to send money to his account, then Unoblab said to Tan that he need to finish all the painting first for the Tele since it is already October and the relase was from Sep. Again after I read all their conversation I would say they are both very bad in many ways and I will stay away from their toys in the future.
But which do you like and trust more. If 1 wanted to take all the credit who would you give it to. And, you can't forget about the tortilla, he's keeping these guys together. Now I'm just hungry, hungry for the truth.
