So we have had a lot of discussions here and there on posters, and shared loads of them through the years of SB, ranging from high art to pop culture. But generally it has been confined to single posts in other areas (horror, sci-fi, comics, etc.) or separate links. I figure it is well past time we have a dedicated thread just for this stuff. Kaiju, toy-related, or not, let's collect 'em here.

Getting the ball rolling, artist Alex Pardee (of the very great Astraulnauts project), recently completed a collage piece compiling water colour interpretations of some classic genre film 'monsters'* he has been building over the last six years. Some of the prints of these guys were available individually before and in series', but here is the collected group (click through for a higher res image):

Quite interesting, and ticks off a few boxes for kaiju and relevant characters. For anyone interested, the poster goes on sale via his website later this month, but will also be available at SDCC (booth #5502). And it comes with a legend to help you identify the characters (for those young'ns who might be before the time of most of these). Still, fun to spend a few moments and see all the ones you can pick out. :)

    * using his own definition of 'favourite monsters,' though clearly, there are some that are general villains, while still others might easily be interpreted as protagonists

Good call. I will start. I started collecting comic books long before kaiju toys. One of my favorite reads when I was a kid was Marv Wolfman and George Perez The New Teen Titans. I purchased this poster back in 1983 when it was first release and it hanged on my wall for many years as a kid. Eventually it was accidentally destroyed during a move. Ebay didn't exist then and the web was just blooming, and hunts at comic shops and conventions in my area were fruitless as comic posters weren't consider as highly collectible back then to keep very little in stock. After a good 20+ years later one excellent unused original poster popped up on Ebay. And now it's back in my collection proudly displayed on the wall again in a frame this time. :)

Took this picture in 2011, before having it framed.

Another favorite poster of mine. HS Terror of Mecha Gorilla Ju poster by artist Masami Watanabe.

Phenomenal! Even as a non-DC guy, I really appreciate the Wolfman/Perez TT run. It was such a defining series. And that poster is just packed with wonderful art, I can see why you have been in love with it all these years. Seeing that really makes me want to pick up a collected trade. Ah, the pre-internet hunting days, those were harsh times - especially if you happened to live anywhere rural. Very happy you were able to track down a replacement, Anthony. I am sure it adorns your wall with pride.

It's a great read David. And I love Perez's style of art much more back then versus now.

Haha yeah pre-internet days were a pain. But much more fun when it came down to hunting things, such as building up the anticipation on going on a 1 to 3 hour trip to conventions to visit your favorite dealers. Waiting for those kaiju toy catalogs from Showcase Collectibles or Club Daikaiju with the latest Godzilla toy movie offers. Fun days.

I came into this hobby from the poster collecting hobby. This should be fun! I have more than what is listed but this is the lion's share.

Bunch of Mark Englert prints here. Each one has a GID layer. The top one shows the camp burning with a mushroom cloud that resembles the Thing. It was his first ever print so he had to learn how to play with the GID layer to make it more invisible, but you can see it pretty clear here. The middle one is the Battle of Blackwater Bay and as I'm sure you can guess, shows huge green explosions and fire. The bottom one is "This is My Farm" and shows it being attacked by zombies while the barn burns.

Olly Moss' Evil Dead. One of my "grails".

Tyler Stout's "Remember the Alamo". A tribute piece with literally 100+ references. Probably my favorite print to this day, and I got it direct from Mondo about 8 years ago.

My hallway. Olly Moss Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, Tyler Stout's Inglorious Basterds. I forgot who did the Totoro. "Nothing is Fucked" is a Big Lebowski/Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas mashup print from Jon Smith.

Martin Ansin's Taxi Driver. Really gets the feel of the movie.

My most holy of grails, Tyler Stout's "The Thing". Each "Thing" has glowing red eyes.

Laurent Durieux's Pulp Fiction. A timed edition run Mondo does about once a year for all the people that never stop bitching about missing drops. Sound familiar?

    Kevin Tong's Battle Royale

Tyler Stout's Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

Stout's Big Trouble in Little China

    Laurent Durieux's Iron Giant.

I need to frame the prints I have. Sadly they are rolled in tubes wishing I had a flat file to put them in. I suppose I could find pics floating around in the vast cloud of the interwebz and post those.
That Teen Titans poster is pretty awesome.

@kid_miracleman, all of these movie posters are excellent. Hard to pick a favorite, although the Battle Royale 1 is especially fun. I'd be happy with any of them on my wall tho. Killer collection, miracleman.

@ultrakaiju, thanks for sharing this Pardee poster! Man, do I need that, especially with finally having walls of my own again starting next month. Ha, and the toy truck from Maximum Overdrive is on there! That's so awesome. :D

Pro-tip: acid-free foamcore board and office clips. Acid-free paper between the prints if you're feeling particularly anal.

Great storage tip but, I'd still have to figure out where to put them ;)

I have a couple of Coop's prints (pics from his webshop/deviantart page) so I'll start with those.
I wanted to buy another one of these and color it in.

@chimply.kaiju I had that same Teen Titans poster on my wall when I was a kid!! LOVED those comics (that was the title that originally got me into comic books)

@kid_miracleman those Stouts are so nice! I had one of his old "Kukuweaq" prints that used to hang on my son's bedroom wall before I realized how hot Stout's stuff had gotten and took it down and sold it. Sorry, son!

I recently had to move a bunch of stored posters/prints that I've never had the space to hang and took the opportunity to snap some pics...

Most here probably familiar with Skinner's Krawluss print, but I thought the colors teamed up nicely with this hot Jim Rugg Telegraph Gallery release ("Dragon Killer")

This ginormous Matt Brinkman print is one of my faves that I'll someday get a big enough blank wall to hang on

Alan Forbes is one of my favorite rock poster artists

I like Miró okay, but I REALLY like this poster that I snagged when I worked for an employment program running in a local Goodwill store. The warehouse sorter came to ask me about it because she knew I went to Art School and I told her to google it because as far as I knew it was just a cheap mass-produced exhibition poster. She was too lazy to do the research and instead asked if I wanted it instead of putting it in the garbage.

@Dr Dave Even Stout's art prints are great. He had a GID Astronaut one I wanted for a long time. His art prints were pretty cheap after market but still super hard to find!

How big is that Brinkman print? You should check out the board game "Cave Evil". I bet you'd dig its art style.[/QUOTE]

@Dr Dave, your RxH avatar reminds me of Deathstroke Terminator from New Teen Titans. lol

Another favorite was this Michael Kaluta "The Shadow: Ablaze" Lithograph released in 1987. This would hang at a comic shop called Superhero Universe II that I visited often. I recall it being around $50 at the time. Boy oh boy did I really wanted to purchase it. But being a kid in high school at that time I could never dump that much cash in to one collectible. Now it is in my collection and I paid half that price. Hand signed in pencil by Kaluta.

*There is also an artist proof in existence. The difference is that it has a gold foiled stamp underneath the image.

@chimply.kaiju It IS Deathstroke! Custom by fellow comic book nerd @hellopike! I named my Fantasy Football team after Deathstroke one year and repurposed my team logo as my avatar.

I remember coveting that same Kaluta litho in my teenage comics shop too! Ha ha.

@gatchabert That's exactly what I felt when I first saw it!

Ever wonder what would happen if the characters on your favourite cartoon show were just actors, and what the heroes and villains might get up to as besties off-camera? Well, wonder no longer. Matthew Skiff has got you covered. Some personal favourites from the coming show:

She-Ra and Hordak 'sliming' He-Man and Skeletor

Duke and Cobra Commander taking a break after work (ha! Joeritos!)

Breakfast time with Fruity Yummy Mummies; you’ll snarf them right up, snarf snarf

Check out the full series at the 1988 gallery website.

Mondo and Marvel are teaming up for a few Ant-Man and Cap-themed posters that will be coming out at SDCC (with some non-variant versions available for online sales I believe). This one for some reason just makes me want to see an Ant-Man/Mothra crossover poster:

Ken Taylor SDCC exclusive Ant-Man poster from Mondo

And a couple to celebrate the MCU First Avenger:

Captain America by Rory Kurtz +++++++++++++++++++++++ First Avenger 'traditional' uniform variant from Stan and Vince

Captain America apparently runs like that, lol. It's gravel being disburse from explosions on the ground. If you look at the background you can see other explosions with gravel flinging around. The asteroids gave me a good laugh as it really does look like asteroids floating around because of the lighting effect.

On second glance, the "trees" or "pillars" are clearly space sticks. Cap is a super soldier, but I doubt he can breathe in space. I imagine Dum Dum keeps an O2 tank under his hat though.
