That Dabulas is a reproduction piece -- it's not authentic.

    From the listing:

"Here we have a faithful reproduction of this amazing piece.
Professional Total Repro... identical to the original Dabulas one!
Subject faithfully reproduced from the original object."

    I realize it's gorgeously-made...but that's a LOT for a resin casting.

Thank you very much for the information, I had no idea it was a reproduction. :(
Even though they did an excellent job, I consider it too much $$$ for a Repro.

    ^^Wow, that IS really rare!

Though I'm surprised someone still cares enough about the cartoon to want these figures!

It is a beautiful piece and not a common color, but it is not so strange to hit those prices.
I do not know if something is happening with the economy or we are going crazy for certain pieces, but with this tendency to higher prices, in the near future will be hard to afford this hobby.:(

    Not Japanese, sorry, but...

I was surprised to learn that this most elusive of jigglers passed through the 'Bay last month:

I wasn't aware that you collected jiggs, @toothaction. I've never seen this Sleesy before, but damn, that price  Yowzas. Still another excellent looking Ben Cooper Jiggler.

So I don't know if we want to keep this to strictly vintage items, @Yuck!!! did start the other discussion but it never really took off. I think from experience most kaiju items get a pass though. Sometimes, you come across something that you wish wasn't real, but sadly is. And you're all too late to do something about. (Actually had two today, but) This is one of those cases:

    :(
Not sure whether I want to scream or cry, but suffice it to say I am agog. Oh, to be able to have noticed things like this. What the hell was going on November 18th? <head scratch> A Hopefully this bird was adopted by a good (and very appreciative) fan.

Wooooow, mixed feelings for sure, but I know there are many of us who wish we'd been the one to come across that deal. I love that color too.

Man, I bet you were screaming, @ultrakaiju.

Indeed. I suppose the silver lining here - and I do like to find one when possible - is that it is a good thing to save to show all those, aherm, (re)sellers of Japanese toys for an pricepoint reference. ;)

Still hard to see my favourite sculpt from one of my top makers fetch nowt but a few dollars (and not be the one to buy him).

Wow that is a really low price. Shipping is $30 clams though so....reality is $41 if the buyer was stateside. Still very good deal. I had 3 of this sculpt so I sold my pink version (regretablly) awhile back (but I know it's in good hands with kichigai). Count me in on envious of the deal this buyer got.

Well... even if it is expensive for a toy, you can't compare retail prices of 40+ years ago and nowaday's second hand market...
I don't know the estimated value of this vintage Red King, but this is not what can be called flipping... (unless you know the seller bought it for cheap some days ago).

Flipping is buying to resale and make an (instant) profit.

There is, and there will always be, a BIG difference between the value of toys that are from the eras where they were meant only for kids (and thus treated as such and not taken care of) and toys, starting from the 90's, which were more and more oriented toward nerdy collectors that only touch them with gloves.

Time will tell what will be the value in 40 years of the uber rare chase limited lottery numbered exclusive toys that are being released nowadays.
I'm pretty sure only a handful will match this price.

That's a beautiful Red King! I've always prefered the Hawaiian 'red' version to the normal colors. I know Bandai made a 90's reissue version and I've been looking for one of those for awhile since the original is out of my range. I knew a seller that would relist one over an over on YJA but I think it finally sold a few weeks back. Snooze you lose I guess, and well you can't own every toy!

@Mark K , @scobot :  Yeah, I told that to myself after sending my post... Sorry guys. I did not mean to be critical, it's just that flipping has become so sensitive a topic on the board... Sorry I jumped so quickly on it...

@plasticXO Sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to make a joke/comment on the recent flipper witch hunting going on.
So glad this sub-forum is relatively free of drama.
BTW, not a totally outrageous price on that Hawaii RedKing considering the seller accepted an offer lower than that listed price. Given the recent high prices on YJA, I wonder where it would have ended up there.
