damn, these are great. all of the cyborg zags are awesome. I particularly like this miborah though.. perfect, to me.
Awesome, thanks! That much more excited now. Hopefully I'll be able to score a Mecha Zag as nice as the ones above. Im sure they will bring their A game as always though.
This Mecha Zag is my personal favorite from the bunch. The colors on the arms and legs just work so darn well with that irridescent-looking spray. The rest are gorgeous too, but I'd love to see some solid color with guts peeking through rather than 100% clear.
^ That zag was my top pick too, unfortunately it was not to be this time around. Some great stuff. I really like the weird tiger striped yellow cyborg zag too, its color reminds me of the early 90's.
I'm a huge Gargamel fan but some of these are way over the top with the metallics.. Hopefully it's an experimental thing and not an indication of future styles. A little silver accent here and there is a nice touch but T-1000 style is a bit overwhelming.
Yeah, not my thing either but it is interesting/cool. I would have tried for a Conifas if they had any up, would be crazy cool to own a custom.
i love the metallics. The miborahs and garudans are gorgeous, and the tiger stripe cyborg is crazy good. Killer was my #1 though I didn't win it.
You never see the vintage style sprays anymore from these custom releases. I'm a huge Gargamel fan but nothing from this group caters to my taste, I will wait for the lucky bag release next year.
^ I'm going to guess that they will be in a lot of bags next year. Now if there was a cyborg Miborah chase, then I'd go completely nuts.
That Teenage Randall is so freaking cute. Kiyoka's busier paint apps are so well done, but I also lean more towards simpler vintage inspired styles which he just can't be beat at. I totally understand, with the sheer number of unique figures he has painted, the need to progress in style and try new ideas, however some of them end up reminding me of the terrible newb customs that just have too much color and paint going on that it loses focus.
^ Well put - I was feeling much the same way but struggling with how to articulate it. I'm almost in love with the mecha tiger.
I'm not a fan myself of metallics (I really can't stand them to be honest) and as much as I was excited to see new Gargamel output I was really underwhelmed when I saw all the metallics. I also really hope this is just a temporary thing and no indication of what's to come. I'd love to see more fluo (or bright) and gid colourways: I have some and they are among my all time favorites.
I am the complete opposite. I think these look wonderful and I hope the trend continues. What metallics do for a sculpt amazes me. There is a reason the top dogs are all doing it. It looks AMAZING! What is it you guys don't like? Is it just you wish the figures had a more vintage feel? Just discussing, to each their own....
Im with you Quentor, I think they do an excellent job at pulling of those metallic paints. Laying down a well done app with those color choices can either go right or terribly wrong. I think we've all seen how ugly things can get when things go awry.. I like that they mix it up and don't just stick to one thing. This Deathra for instance, is accented so nicely! I love the coppers and magenta, all just my opinion though.
I prefer metallic paint in moderation usually. The way Nari from Elegab does his metallics as accents cones to mind. But some of these are quite nice.
I'm hoping for a big bucket of middle size. Ojo Rojo and gang. So stoked to see what they bring for DCON. Fingers crossed we see a new sculpt or two. They sent me a big red bucket of red teenage Randall for DCON. So I'm pretty happy.
