Ok, I'm trying to find a cool toy for a 2 year old girl. Since I don't have kids of my own (2-legged kids, anyway), I'm not really a good judge of what would be appropriate or hold a little girl's interest. I'm really against Barbie and Ken dolls-probably obsolete anyway (thank goodness! ).

I came across an ad for a Despicable Me Talking/Interactive Dave toy. Seems aaaaaamazing!

Can you parents out there give me a thumbs up or down, on whether this would be a good gift? If yes, I might have to get two (one for me! :D ). Seems like a really cute toy!

I was really surprised on how "realistic" this interactive toy is. It seems very responsive (too bad it can't actually walk and run and sense obstacles), much better than a static plush. Just watch the eyes, blinking, and how it moves--very entertaining. I'm just not sure if a 2 year old would appreciate it, but I'm sure the parents would ;) Dave is actually quite large-9 inches.

The 2 year old kids I know seem more impressed with the size of a toy then the functionality so I'd go with a big cute stuffed something rather then a technical marvel. For the sake of the parents I would find one of the newer WASHABLE stuffed toys that can just be tossed in the washer/dryer whenever they want.

When I was 2, it was all about plush plush and more plush. If I couldn't hug it and take it to bed with me at night, I wasn't too interested. I'd save the cool stuff for when she gets a little older and can appreciate things a bit more. ;) Perhaps a plush minion would be better? I know most kids adore the Despicable Me minions, so you're definitely on point with that.

Maybe a nice set of blocks or some simple puzzles?

Yeah, gonna echo this. Jude is 2 now, and he loves puzzles and blocks. My wife and I love them too, because they challenge him and he doesn't get bored with them. So many of his other toys don't challenge him at all, and he gets bored and destructive with them really fast. It does't happen often, but every time we hear him go to his room and play quietly, he's always doing puzzles or building things.

I was going to suggest a big IceBat or other plush Uglydoll but toothy beat me to it. This is based on experience. The little girl I'm thinking of received one when she was 2 and is now a much bigger girl who still treasures the thing. :)

    Russblue11, you are hilarious!
Ok, I think I got the message. Wiggling giggling minion is not yet ready for 2-year old prime time. I am glad I asked, as I'm clueless about really young children. Soft and large plush it is then! :D Thank you people!
