Mori's Photozou stream is a toy voyeur's paradise. He keeps dropping figure after figure each week and just a few days ago he revealed a new adult version of the Pheyaos man with the old mini-head sculpt and a new body style…
Mori's output has been nothing short of spectacular. Great to see his evolving style and focus on the adult sized, winning new fans along the way.
Yeah, Mori's walk through the future is reaping all great new figures. The collaborations with PK and Atom A have been nothing short of home runs. I just wish we could get more distribution in the US without having to pay the scalper prices. I know Onell has been hinting at some new figures so I'm excited to see what their next team up with Mori produces.
Yeah, I'd also really love to have more non-Japanese distribution. I like a lot of these new figures, but I'd rather my money goes straight to the toymakers and not the scalpers. Just my opinion.
Both the head and body sculpts are new. The figure is just called "Pheyaos", so I think it is a re-proportioned version of the mini.
The head sculpt is new too? I thought it was the same mini-head with new body. Also, I want to see more pics from the show he just did. The molds look awesome. I don't think there's enough mold pics out there in general.
The head shape is different, and there are slight sculpting differences when you compare the two. Data just posted some event photos from Yamashiroya on his flickr (thanks D!). The secret event releases blew my mind. There's a Hades color Bio-Knuckle in the display as well... wonder if that is a sneak peek.
Hades Bio-Knuckle is sweet. I've been trying to keep to one-color per mold, but I may need a second Bio-Knuckle.
Pic borrowed from data's flickr... (thank you!) Just had to say I'm really diggin' Mori's paint app on this new Jinxman *applause*
Cy'os needs more love too. I have one and it's a cool head sculpt. You normally don't see the wicked smile he has with the bandanna in the way. I the Pheyaos-Man in this pic too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/datadub/10922376226/ There seriously needs to be better distribution here. Fingers-crossed! With Gargamel releases showing up more and more, maybe RxH will follow suit.
I've stayed away from Real X Head for above reason, (well, that and the sheer output and lack of info. in english) but these newer pieces. man oh man. i can see the attraction. . I'm curious though, in this pic. Are we looking at a definitive set of production releases in full size? http://www.flickr.com/photos/datadub/10922296705/sizes/l/in/set-72157637797277235/
No, definitely not. I would say this is about 1/4 of the full size production items at best. Maybe less.
From Rotocasted, there's quite a few more, although a ton are organized under the "Chaos Warriors" line, which I think was Medicom-exclusive. http://rotocasted.com/library/platform_Chaosman%20X/ http://rotocasted.com/library/platform_Cy'os/ http://rotocasted.com/library/series_Chaos%20Warriors/ http://rotocasted.com/library/platform_Chaos%20Trooper/ http://rotocasted.com/library/platform_Karigurimu/
Yes, "Chaos Warriors" was the banner used by Medicom for their exclusives. At any rate, there's a bunch more than even the event photo and the Rotocasted entries combined. I've been keeping track to an extent and I would say there are about 30-50 unique versions of each of the pre-2012 characters out there. I also notice that the entries on Rotocasted appear to use several of my photos of the Chaos Troopers and one Cy'os without any attribution. Interesting. It looks like the uploader just took my photos and cut out the figure from the background.
Ruh-Roh! I contributed a few but I can tell which ones. They're the handful of bootleg background ones (before my light tent).
Users from Trampt and Rotocasted do this all the time. I appreciate the massive efforts that go into both sites, but ultimately, this is not really cool (i think it's more bad user habits than the actual site moderators). The other thing that grinds me about those sites is that you don't really learn about any of the figures other than a little bit of superficial info. It's a pity that VinylCreep is no longer maintained regularly. I still find myself on there from time to time.
I mind slightly less if it is done for 'educational purposes' by collectors, versus for an eBay listing or a professional site. But seriously, just message me and ask. Beyond that, most of those lists have a bunch of toys that don't belong there at all and/or release information that is inaccurate. As spatula noted, Chaos Warriors was a small, small subline of Medicom exclusives that only had like 6 figures total. The effort is commendable, but I think this really just muddies the waters for new collectors. Wow, I just searched RealxHead on that site and there are ton of photos lifted from my flickr. In fact, most of the photos look like they are from store photos, Mori's twitter or other flickr accounts. I guess that's sort of to be expected with 'teh Internets' but yeesh.
So have the original four (Evil , MH, Big Chaos) essentially been retired? Not to see any further production pieces? I'm guessing the original molds, after years and years of pulling vinyl in large runs, are in a questionable state. I can't remember the last time I saw a new production run of one of those. Anyone?
