BAM! JUST so you know man, i blog for fun. NO $$$ made by me at all. And i like to hear artists talk! My own voice? Meh...

And why do i blog? To get info about art i like - subjectively, i'm NOT putting myself up as any sort of objective taste guardian - from the artist's themselves. That's it.

 

i dont like anything about the figure in resin or let alone vinyl. With that being said, lixx youre just a douche bag and im not sticking up for anybody on the computer. but he started the thread just stay out of it. no reason for a god complex(maybe you know something about section 8 being from buffalo). and i dont wanna hear the thick skin shit around here.

Joe worked and works his ass off. I don't collect Splurrt but I've ultimately come to respect what the man does. His toys in my opinion are unique and are of his own vision. I don't think I've ever looked at one of his toys and thought that they were contrived or a direct rip off of something else. However THIS toy does.

 

I live in Buffalo (in a very nice neighborhood I might add) but I'm not originally from Buffalo but thanks for trying to hurl petty insults at me "Rybeat nuts I have 29 posts whatever your dumb name is"! I've actually lived in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, NJ, and Brooklyn as well as travelled to South America, Europe, etc...Where have you gone in your life besides your Mom's basement? I don't have a god complex just have strong opinions. I know you just signed up just last year, but if you were here even just a few years ago this kind of stuff would not fly. Everyone here is just too PC anymore to voice it.

I like the figure. I thought it was cool a couple of years ago when John first showed the WIP sculpt on these boards. In fairness, I am internet friends with Mr. Santagada and probably would be predisposed to support most of his efforts, but I'm particularly fond of this because of the chunky proportions and the "ready for battle"-sort of pose.
I'll be perfectly honest in stating that I am a fan of toys in general, and may not have anything that approaches the encyclopedic knowledge of sofubi or kaiju that many on this board have. So, if this guy doesn't specifically fit within certain aesthetic parameters that have been set for modern "fight figures", fair enough. I'd actually be really interested in hearing what people think should have been done differently.
At the end of the day, I just want one of these things.

Yes maybe I should have left out 'for a living' but in the context of the above statement clearly you can see what I meant. Why would I also say 'extension of social network universe' immediately afterwards? I'm done arguing. Regardless of what you want to try to twist this into, I still hold to my original statement. SB is not your blog extension.

Here is a custom one I made for the Kickstarter. Was a ton of fun to paint and I can't wait to get more in vinyl! I especially liked how the matte body played off the wet fleshy parts on this (at least my interpertation) hahaha.

I certainly won't touch on any of the aesthetic issues being debated, but I just don't get why this wasn't posted in the resin section... All of the examples shown thus far have been resin or painted resin. There is a good reason why that section of the board exists! I'd think this thread would be best off if moved over yonder area.
