interview and pics of his apartment with some kaws and some other og western toys here: http://www.freundevonfreunden.com/inter ... -iwashiro/
Spent a lot of time (probably more than I should have) pouring over those photos. A lot of small details to see though, so it was worth it. I can definitely appreciate their design aesthetic, but the thought of what an apartment like that costs in NYC is pretty scary.
yeah the ad-at or whatever he called it was cool at the time. it was sculpted by nathan cabrera who did the 1st fafi toys, camille garcia, most of all the old span of sunset toys & also I just found out he did the recent bape x undftd collaboration. a little too shell toe-y for my tastes these days though. I remember he did some expletive deleted's but now he does sculptures & other stuff too. I follow him on IG @billions. I guess he was involved in the whole late 90's early 00's NYC art scene so I'm sure most of those toys were gifts. oh yeah that air max 95 space shuttle is his too.
The Ad-At is neat, but the Shuttlemax is one of the ugliest toys ever made. Still, like you guys say. These people have money. And no kids, obviously.
Bill is an awesome artist and is still heavily involved in the art scene. He's not doing so much toys these days but did a crazy SuckLord collab for D-Con. He's working more on the fine art side of things these days but graces me and SuckLord with his presence at the at studio all the time.
Billions is showing this epic and massive piece in Toronto right now. More pics, video etc. here. http://bit.ly/1iGTsiC
