Thanks andy; the style does match the 2008-later releases. Look forward to seeing the photos of your finds.

It always cool for me to find this subject up here :D

I think this Mav is one-off and sold @ WF in 2009. If you pick up this Mav at Mandarake and there is the sticker on header, I'm sure it is. Here is my Mav I bought there.

Thanks kaz! Yes, same header- I thought the sticker was part of the print at first.

What happened to the Cronic line? Cool and high one day, hordes of people selling the next. I always liked the dorome (sp?) the best. Had to sell most of 'em to go back to school. Then just the other day I scored a nice lulubell pink painted production piece for 5 bucks. Sheesh, shipping cost more.
This, to me, was a very cool line of toys with awesome colors and paints. Hope the artist comes back out of the woods!

Sorry it's taken me a while to put up more shots. Here's a recent(ish) pick up that I had hunted for a good long time:

It was a show release from a few years ago. This one was really tough to track down, so I'm guessing he put out around 5-6 of them.

I find it a little amazing that we're still seeing relatively unknown Cronic figures popping up so far after his active period.

@max- I love that clear blue/green Zyurai on the right. Cronic really understands color and composition, perhaps more so than any other toy company.

@andy- Can't wait to see more on that set. The stuff of legends!

So true. A lot of customs from years' past were done completely under the radar. It's fun to see them emerging here and there, completely out of the blue.

Do you know if those white ones with the orange striping were done with an airbrush or striperbrush?

These are two one-offs by Cronic from 2006. Based on the header, they were lottery prizes and available only to regular customers (from his mail order site?). The green one is named "緑王獣" (Ryokuoujuu / Greenery King Beast) and the blue one "海王獣" (Kaioujuu / Sea King Beast), so it seems like they were intended as a set. The marbled handpaint style with airbrushed/brushpainted details looks really good on these, especially the arrangement of colors in the marbling.

There's one weird thing that I can't figure out- the header is marked as a '3rd anniversary commemoration', but Cronic was only around from 2005, no?

    argh, its you!
i thought its jcat or u as there are not many people after zyurais these days :)
these are great buys especially at those prices.
anyway, i am nearly sure these are not 06's marbled pieces. u can tell from the sprayed fist & chest, the early marbled are marbled all over. i have a few marbled Zs in this combination of marbled & spray and they were mostly around 08 & 09 before cronic vanished.

I had the same thought- that these Zyurais were a 2008-09 release as we didn't see the marble + spray until then- but they are both clearly signed and dated 2006 on the foot. The header also says 2006.

My other thought was that these were like the Cronic paint of Dream Rocket's Gumoz, where Cronic took an original marbled HP from 2007 and airbrushed it further before releasing it in 2009. So the foot could have a 2006 date, but the figure might have been altered and released at a later time. But that doesn't explain the header. The dates also don't make sense as I can't explain the significance of 2006 as a year for Cronic.
