Extremely tight. Will Sergeant is one of my all time favorite guitarists, and Ian McCullough well, he's just a great singer. Never saw them in their heyday but did manage to catch them in 2005 in Philly. When they played 'Killing Moon' I almost died.
there was like ten people there it was the same day as warped tour it was hilarious because it was so freakin fun
name one i keep thinking of more but the ones i wrote were the most important ones i could think of...
There's one that's always going to haunt me, even though it was out of my control whether or not I could see them... BLACK FLAG
Saw so many bands through the punk era that live acts now bore me, and I think I saw every band I ever wanted to see. None the less I did read about a show that I wish I was at. 1975. Kiss's first stage show as an opening band. The Stooges as the middle act. Blue Oyster Cult topping it off. Delicious 70's rock decadence. Just a bit before my time.
Curse fate! Missed the opportunity to see: The Avengers The Specials The Pixies The Smiths The White Stripes My Bloody Valentine Bauhaus Throbbing Gristle Prince Roxy Music Praise J.R. "Bob" Dobbs! ... Did see excellent shows by these artists in their prime, some of them several times: Gang of Four Talking Heads Black Uhuru The English Beat The Clash The Dead Kennedys Snakefinger P.I.L. S.P.K. DNA Fugazi Tuxedomoon Los Lobos Einstürzende Neubauten The Del Rubio Triplets (you had to be there...) U2 (Don't hate ... they were new and "unknown" and hot at the time.) Diamanda Galas King Crimson Ride Lush Tackhead Mark Stewart and Maffia Dead Can Dance Flipper The Circle Jerks The Dream Syndicate The Salvation Army Praise Jimi! Saw them long after their prime but they were still great: Neil Young Grateful Dead Bob Dylan Bad shows by good bands: Cocteau Twins (I don't think they were ever meant to be a live band.) UB40 (Awful. Hostile to the audience.) Echo and the Bunnymen (Painful. I worshipped them at the time but the show was a pretentious bore.) Wall of Voodoo (No comment.) Got a little off topic there...
Rites of spring Poison Idea Jawbreaker Death MC5 I'm sure there are thousands more but these are the first to come to mind Hopeful to someday see Dillinger Four!
3 come to mind: Type O Negative, NIN during the Downward Spiral tour and Morbid Angel (with David Vincent on vocals).
wish: hendrix nirvana sex pistols ratm ministry (in their prime) best i've seen: skinny puppy (vivisect tour, halloween night) dead kennedys (frankenchrist, nyc) big black (kat klub, nyc) clutch (state theater, detroit) portishead (last year at the greek, berkeley) honorable mentions: tool (multiple) naked raygun (so much fun, so long ago) wanted a refund: sonic youth (walked out) ministry (final beating a dead horse tour) social distortion (will someone give mike ness a hug already?)
I wish I saw the last Type O Negative tour. I saw them many times but the last tour came right by me and I didn't check their website for a while so I had no idea about the show. I missed it and Peter was dead 6 months later. He was all sobered up for that tour and was supposed to have sounded great. My first concert ever was Nirvana, that was amazing. Best shows: Nirvana White Zombie Pantera TOOL- Lollapolooza 1996 and Fall 2001 Type O Negative Halloween Phillidelphia 1998- They played the whole show in full zombie make-up! Lords of Acid Voodoo-U tour- Intense sexual energy in the crowd, great band. Gwar 20th anniversary tour- They played only old Scumdogs era stuff, so cool. The White Stripes at Bonnaroo- Jack White was electric, It seemed like he was coked up or something, but I'm maybe I'm wrong, maybe he was just on fire that night. Amazing show. Dead Can Dance Laibach Garbage 1995- Right before they got big, small venue, I was front and center about 3 feet away from Shirley manson, she was/is a VERY sexy and beautiful woman, amazing performance.
