That interview with Cranston was fantastic. Loved how he offered some teases about what's going to happen on tonight's episode without actually spoiling anything. Clearly a great guy and a true actor who loves the craft, unspoiled by Hollywood. It was especially interesting to learn about his comic background and hear his thoughts on how comedic setups play a part on BB, even though it's not comedy.

I just learned that a couple of long time acquaintances were murdered in Mexico D.F. by narco terrorists. I didn't get all the details but what I was told was horrible ... these mafia guys are pure evil, they make sure that people fear and suffer before dying. Sorry if this is TMI on a toy board but watching tonight's episode is going to be sort of weird given the news.

I'm excited about the season finale. I don't have cable so I have to wait till tomorrow morning to watch it (I'll probably be up at 5am to look for it!) I found this interesting article online interviewing Giancarlo Esposito:

I don't have cable either, but I'm off to a friend's place that does.
I remembered shortly after I woke up today about tonight finale - I kind of wanted to go right back to sleep until it was time!

@Dean - So sorry to hear about the loss in your circle. My thought are with you and their families today.

I kind of wished I didn't hear the WTF interview but the final shot was pretty awesome.

Now we know that Gus was dapper til the end...

I don't really wish I'd skipped the interview, cause it was fantastic, but yeah, it did point me towards putting 2 and 2 together a little more quickly than I would have otherwise. I'd never expect Breaking Bad to go out without a HOLY FUCK! moment, but I might have been lulled a little more before it had I not heard Cranston's well-phrased preview.

A search for one thing led to another:

Thank you tooth, I'm fine. Real life is weirder than fiction sometimes.

So there was yet another red exit sign this time, at the hospital when Walt sat down next to Jesse. It finally makes sense. Exit Hector, Gus and Tyrus from the stage, and Walt and Jesse from Gus and the superlab. Always red, never green exit signs. Blood and terminus.

Was anyone else reminded of "Dark Knight" yet again when Gus had his final moment? He always was a two-faced kinda guy. As it turns out, so is Walt, more than we knew.

Now we know what Walt's spinning gun pointed to ... an indication that he really has crossed some lines for good. I figure he's only going to get worse from here on out. It'll be interesting to see if he's still a sympathetic character to the end.

Well hopefully they won't divide the last 16 episodes into two seasons but you know they'll milk it for all it's worth. It would be nice to have BB wrapped up in an extended season next year but I know AMC. They do short seasons followed by a year (or sometimes more) off usually. If they can get get viewers in for two more years they will. Which will make a 8 episodes season kind of suck because you'll have to wait longer for an outcome which you know could have been done in one season of 16.

Anyhow.....So my predictions for the rest of BB (regardless if it is one or two seasons) is pretty obvious. Walt becomes Gus, Jesse either takes Walt down himself or aids Hank in helping him take Walt down.

I think it's fair to say we all have came to the conclusion that's how it's all gonna end. But it's the journey that Im looking forwards to.

After the end of this season it's safe to say Walt is gone, he looks like him from time to time but he is gone. He has is now far to gone to come back, unless we get a Dark Vader ending.

Could this have been the series finale? The next 16 episodes sound more like they were added once the deal with Sony came together.
Re: the next season, Walt taking over goes without saying but besides that tbh I wouldn't know what to expect. Mike is still out there...

How would Walt take over though? They destroyed their production and they have no distribution channels, and the DEA is on alert for the blue meth. Back to the basement lab?

    Also, isn't Mike still alive...?

One thing I did notice was when Tyrus calls Gus to inform him that Hector visited the DEA he clearly says: "WE have a problem, We got eyes in the DEA- they just had a visitor- Hector Salamanca" Notice he said 'WE' got eyes in the DEA. I hope this is a twist for next year where it is revealed that Steve Gomez was a mole working for Gus. This would also explain everyone being completely mystified as to how Gus seems to have a sixth sense maybe. Also notice Steve's pause in the last episode when he was near the dryer/washing machine that led to the lab. Obviously there for dramatic effect but it could mean more than just one thing.

Also remember Steve got Hanks promotion and went away for awhile? The cartel/ and or Gus could have got to him and bought him out then.

I don't see how Walt takes over Gus' position. Sure, he's the top dog in ABQ, but he just has a car wash and at this point relatively little cash. 16 hours is a lot of time though. I wouldn't be surprised if they finally jumped the story ahead given the entirety of these four seasons have taken place over a year.

The terminator/two-face/face-off Gus was a bit much for me. I think an abstract shot of the explosion would have been nearly as effective, if not as definitive. Also thought the last shot, as crushing as it was intended to be, didn't need to be spelled out. It was a good finale though and I'll be sticking with the show to the bitter, surely horrifying end. I hope next season they watch a few less movies and dial back the outrageous though. Minimal has always worked really well for the show, especially at the end of season three.

Was it just me, or did any one else hear the breathing sounds coming from the parking garage rooftop scene in the end. When walt was talking with Jessie, there is this long shot view and you hear breathing. Then at the end when Walt drives away he stops and looks to see the "chicken brothers" logo hanging from some cars rear view. I think someone was there watching them, maybe Mike ?

I didn't notice breathing but I saw that there's a dark line (the window pane). Jesse and Walt are together on the right, then Jesse walks left and I'm guessing the line symbolizes a permanent break in their friendship in the next season(s)

I keep coming back to Vince Gilligan's thought that he wanted Walter to be a character who went "from Mr. Chips to Scarface" with the challenge of keeping the audience interested in him during the journey. If the show sticks to that trajectory then there's likely to be more tragedy and craziness than success along the way.

I realize that in these shows some story lines just get dropped, and you have to live with it, but it seems that Skylar should have heard about Ted somehow. He's certainly still on her mind. Maybe that'll be resolved later.

When the agent told Jesse "until next time," that could have been a "we're keeping an eye on you" message, or just a cynical parting statement, or possibly a hint that Jesse will turn mole/informant with an eye to "breaking good" as a family man?

Definitely think Steve Gomez is going to play some significant part. I'm not sure why, but some statements by the actor sounded very confident, like he knows he'll be around. Although I have no real reason to think so, I also have this ongoing hunch that Walt Jr. will play some crucial role.

Almost sorry to see Giancarlo Esposito go. What a great character ... this season would have been a lot weaker without him.

There are definitely loose ends that will most likely come about in the final season(s). Surely, there will be some retailiation from Gus's chronies. There are a lot more than we probably even know about who will come after Walt. I really wonder what Mike's reaction will be once (if) he returns and learns about all that went on during his recovery. Also, the goons in Walt's house. Just a couple more hitmen? Are they Gus's men? Another group of Heisenberg Assasins? While Don Eladio's crew is no more, there are certainly more sanctions of the Cartel that would come after Walt, either to kill him or work with him? The show could have ended with last nights finale but I am so excited to see what direction Gilligan takes the show toward the conclusion.

It just sucks we have to wait so long to get our BrBa fix! Might need to try some Blue Sky meth in the meantime.
