For some reason the shape makes me think Eaton. I love Blobpus stuff - but not loving this as much. Guess I have to see one in person to make a final decision. Certainly liking the paint apps. Thanks for the pics Kirkland!
this thing is wild... i dig it. it would look cool hanging out with salamander joe. think i'd need to track down the joe first edit: to add this....
It's not clear to me if this is a Hanawa collab, or inspired by him, or whatev, but it is making it's appearance for their show at P-Koen already, right? At least, it seems to me. It's a delicious monster by name and I might just have a bite.. exchanges rates not withstanding. What does the word "Jupon" really mean? Is it like "Nom Nom" in English?
very far from the usual works of blobpus but i think that is very interesting, it remember me toys by jim woodring
Yupers! I'm really excited about these Hanawa collabs. I feel like it's the first we have seen the ultra lowbrow picturebox/le dernie cri style of art in vinyl form.
Andy's KK Blog has additional pics, which put these figures into better perspective: They have the obvious Blobpus signature and are even more sumptous. I have also been a fan of Hanawa's work for a while as well: I'd like to know how to get a hold of his work as well.
This guy is different in a good way. The only thing that is throwing it off, for me, is the fact that the 2 circular designs on the chest area don't match up in any of the pics.
This is far too Western "designer art toy" and not enough BLObPUS horror-themed style for my liking. Collaborations are cool but I personally think this is the weakest sculpt put out by BLObPUS (those minis in the promo shot are pretty uninteresting too). Also, as previously stated, the circles on the seam don't match up which is a huge eyesore.
Crazy ... knockin' it out of the park. Always good to see BP referencing the original critters even if only slightly. No way not to see the v-jay dentata motif there.
I think blobpus predictable and boring. I like this toy, however, and I also really like the graphic art from which it and taken I also think that the circles are not going well
I would love to see how skinner would paint this, it reminds me of one of skinner sculpts. Can't wait to see more of these painted by various artistss
i think if it would look like blobpus on first sight it would be a pretty bad sculpt as its about hanawa´s art in first place ...to be transformed into a toy ...with help of blobpus = producer. actually hanawa´s art doesnt do much to me, but sculpt reflects hanawa´s art very good imho. so to me its best new toy in a while. burly round shape same as anraku glutamin or methyl brings out beauty of a 3D sculpt perfect. number of so many fxxking awesome one-offs is pretty amazing as well. nice.
It's an odd one for sure.. not supposed to be a strictly blobpus production, so I don't see the issue. I like that Kaji-San is up to different things, helping other artists get their art out there. I agree with the 'burly' comment. Looks like a mutated Dako.
Re: BLObPUS new sculpt: JUPON the Food Monster...!! I just received mine today. The Jupon is amazing, and hand-signed by Blobpus on the foot! Did anybody else order one? Thoughts??
