I just stumbled upon this video of one of my favorite artists A.J. Fosik where he's seen creating the cover art piece for metal band Mastodon's new album "The Hunter". The video is soundtracked by the new Mastodon song "Black Tongue". I thought it might be fun to share here. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwgqenxNUfs See more of Fosik's art here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajfosik
No offence to the band but I wish I could by that sick "In the teeth" T-shirt, without the word mastodon across the top. I'm more of a fan of the artist than the band...
Really? I had to listen to it again to see if I missed it the first time - but I really don't hear much similarity. Granted I haven't listened to anything post-black album by Metallica...other than by accident. Mastodon is proggy, and doesn't have any of the classical elements that Metallica draws from. I think they sound more like if Alice in Chains and Rush had a baby. Man - we've been disagreeing lately! First the Rangeas/Kubrick, now Mastodon/Metallica!
