The big one hit while I was at work in west Tokyo. Immediately walked out, and down to a luchador themed taco stand. Nothing says "Let's ignore all the aftershocks" like vegan avocado burritos.

When the high-fiving luchadors fall, or touch hands, it's time to take your food outside the restaurant until the aftershocks stop. It's a fool proof method!

I am glad to hear peeps over in Japan are okay! I can't believe how bad the coast was hit. Poor people and animals! I know they just said Bend Oregon was evacuating due to the waves. Thanks to everyone for posting info.

I'm okay and glad to say that.
I wish the situations would not be worse than what I heard through current TV news.

I know Dennis has a long commute to/from work so he might be hung up there. Hoping he and Yuriko are fine.

I hope everyone is okay, footage of the waves were surreal. I can't imagine how terrifying it would be in that situation. Glad sbers are okay for the most part :|

I guess if there's anything to be thankful for, it's that the quake happened in the ocean. It would have been absolutely devastating if it were on land.

That can't be right - Bend is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the state! The only waves they have are the standing waves on the Deschutes River.
And the Oregon coast is expecting 3' waves - not nearly large enough to make it over the Cascades and into Bend!

This is fucking tragic, I'm not a religious man. But whether it be god, Satan, kthulu. Who ever is pulling the strings up there I'm praying too um that all our fellow skullbrainers, toy makers, their families, friends, everyone really, is ok.

Those are really sad pics. I was just at the shop at around 12:00 (just a couple of hours before the quake) to pick up my figures from the custom show. The Gargamel crew were in good spirits. I hope they're OK!

Glad to hear from more and more Japan based people that you're all well!

Also glad to hear everyone seems to be ok. Was just watching some footage on CNN and Matt Alt called in, crazy to hear and see all that has gone on.

the list of aftershocks throughout the night is unbelievable and they seem to still be happening almost every 15 minutes. As if the big one wasn't bad enough followed by the tsunami, imagine a 5.0-6.0 every 15 minutes. Is this normal activity after a big one? Scary stuff

Quake that size will also have a lot of aftershocks of varying magnitude. The really scary part is if the Ring of Fire becomes active. If you're squimish about seeing where earthquake activity is popping up, you might not want to click the link:
