i was very Happy, yet shocked. The guy that sculpted that (Kim Ito) taught me most of what I know... He was a great friend, an amazing sculptor and craftsman and to this day his whereabouts are unknown. Even Funnnyara has no info and he lets me know every year. it's a damn shame and it bums me out sometimes. I will never forget, he painted one and had it floating around in a nice apothecary jar filled with water with a drop of milk. The result was quite insane. Pure fucking art. wayy ahead of his time. Very strange how the second one's sig by him is muddled out.
Pre internet era late 80's at model kit shows. He was selling Billiken kits at absolutely amazing prices. I also me Yuji from M-1 through him. He was also responsible for my artist name, he called 'Kaiju-Paul" because that's all i was into. I reversed it later. He also drove a Volkswagen Thing with a license plate # that read "Ultra Q". Badass.
I remember Paul telling me about his experience as Kim Ito's "apprentice", none the less it seemed like a very rewarding experience! A truly talented guy who trained another artist to become just as talented! I'm sad to hear though that his whereabouts are unknown right now.
those hp skullwings are amazing. i didnt expect to see an unflocked hp skullwing. great pick ups mark.
Anyone hear any more news about marbled Skullwings? I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping that another wave of them is released like the Siamese Pirates were... Anybody? phil
