AV outputs instead of RF does anyone have experience with playing on these consoles in the US? (i.e. does it work?)
Re: original Famicom with A/V output I have one with the regular rf and it works just fine. I have to use a power supply from an old Mac printer but it works great. The only problem with the famicom is the super short controller length. Did you buy it that way or is there someone who mods them?
There aren't many good sources for famicom games in the states. While ebay isnt great, it's going to have a solid selection. Most of the big name games are going to be pricey no matter where you get them, Rockman 2/3, any of the Technos games, etc. I picked up most of my stuff in used game stores in Tokyo.
Man, if you have a Famicom, you just need to get the 1000 games in 1 cartridge. Technically it's like 10 games but listed 1000 times.
Hey Alex This place is awesome. Located in Akihabara. 3 Floors of retro gaming goodness. Floor 5 is a vintage arcade with a throne made out of Famicom cartridges. http://www.superpotato.com/ Heaps of cheap famicom games listed on the website and literally thousands instore. They sell all conditions right up to mint boxed and brand new old stock. Check the below photo of the boxed Japanese Sega Megadrive games. Game Choice is good. Located in Hong Kong. Bit expensive but they post worldwide. I've ordered some neo-geo games from them in the past. Great service. http://www.gamechoiceclub.com/ Good luck hunting down some games. Post up what you end up scoring.
looks like i need a buying service i'm lost when it comes to all that anymore it's weird - on the first site i assume they have loads of games, but none of the categories seem to work when i click on them EDIT nevermind i figured out my problem. you cant translate when searching. has to put in the japanese characters
Do it!. I don't have a very big Famicom collection but here's a few faves i photographed a while back. Be warned though, buying these things become very addictive. Sound familiar? The design and artwork really draws you in.
Awesome pics Deadbone. I dont have a very big famicom collection, but i do have several disk system games, which surprisingly still work. Super potato is awesome, but you can drop a lot of coin there in a hurry if you are not careful. Plus there are other retro stores in Akiba that will have better deals on some things than others. I bought a lot of saturn games at Trader 3 because they were cheaper there.
Another thing to look at if you like the old artwork is to pickup some strategy guides. I bought some of the strategy guides for Final Fantasy 4 and 6 and they are full of original character designs and more artwork. They are also dirt cheap.
anyone have a buyer that wont charge you per item the same price if you are buying lots from a web store?
i bought an ac adapter today and hooked up my famicom for the first time. it was so cool playing mappy with the little red controller!! ghosts and goblins kicked my ass as usual and i got another game with it called warpman that i had never heard of before.
