What the hell! Another one of my favorites passing away! Because of him in Blue Velvet, I always think twice before saying "Heineken", when people ask me what kind of beer do I like to drink... This is a bad month for my happy childhood memories.
RIP. It's sad but I'm really glad that it's over for him. The cancer was consuming him and he became super skinny and frail.
Damn! Damn! Damn! Not only was he a fine actor but also a great photographer, visual artist, and as a collector possessed a amazing knowledge of Contemporary Art/Artists. Damn! I didn't need this today.
Sad to hear. He left behind some great performances. I think my favorite was Frank in Blue Velvet - Damn, that was intense!
Unfortunate that his last days were mired with problems with his family. A true star and not a celebrity. i.e. Paris and all those other people who are famous for nothing instead of accomplishments.
Man, this year is not a good year for celebrities and musicians. Mr. Hopper was definitely one of my favorite actors, and he will be sorely miss. I'm going to suggest tonight at a party that we watch a film starring Hopper.
"Pop quiz hotshot!, theres a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50mph the bomb is armed, if it drops below 50, it blows up. what do u do? WHAT DO YOU DO?"
Oh man. I knew he was very ill but was hopeful, because he was able to get out and about last month. It was good to see him smiling out in public one last time. A great actor, a great lover of art and architecture, and what an amazing life story! He will be dearly missed. Loved that dude.
He was in Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now AND Blue Velvet, and you quote a line from Speed? Why not quote a line from Super Mario Brothers?
As a matter of fact, a few years back I caught the traveling exhibit about Wallace Berman's Semina Culture, which turned out to have counted Dennis Hopper as one of its members. His photographs were really interesting and of course I gained a new appreciation for the man.
i actually enjoyed speed, and love that line, im appreciating his work and mourning his loss, not trying to argue with members of the board who might not of liked speed. he was the first villian in 24 also... such a sad day, i enjoyed him on crash as well.
