I started a new series on my blog called Facets of Interest. It's an interview with some of the artists that I admire. When I met Ricky in Tokyo during the Mishka Harajuku opening, I asked him if I could set up a little Q&A with him. Well, here it is. Feel free to comment and don't worry, the typical bike-readership on my blog doesn't bite. Thanks Ricky!
Very cool write up on Ricky. Thanks John for promulgating the kaiju word to the bike masses. I've always had an affinity for both which really makes your blog sort of like a one stop shopping place now.
Very cool interview. Keep it up, I'll come back ! I have a couple ghouls on it's way to me right now, they look aWesome
Very nice write up, Ricky is the man and is helping create an entire new era of toys and toy companies. I'm stoked to see this write up to help him get out there to a new audience. Hmmmmm I wonder who painted that purple and green one with the silver v on the bottom
Thanks John! Spreading the word is a good thing to do especially when it deals with someone as creative and fun as Ricky. With the host of independent vinyl toy makers coming from Skullbrain alone you could keep this going for awhile. Here's hoping you will.
Thanks for the awesome article, John! If your articles can get a guy like me to start being interested in bikes, then I have ZERO doubts I better start making more toys post-haste! Good thing I'm already on that
Be prepared to have 100's of teenagers emailing you wanting a ghoul or a bechigon now. I think the larvagons will scare them too much. BTW, I totally just bought a Bull Alien off eBay after posting that photo and remembering the toys as a kid.
Great reading ! Thanks for sharing. What I love in Ricky's works is that he is going in his own - very original - direction and still keeps true to the fundamentals of pachimons. Humble and talented ! And he's a so nice guy to chat with. Hope I'll get another opportunity to have a beer with him !
Yeah, I really love the Ghouls. I can't wait to see the whole Velocitron family explained through his short novel. Get on that man!
Maybe if 100's of teenagers start e-mailing me I can fix up a special Bieber Twilight Bechigon. Kids these days like Bieber vampires, don't they? Thanks also to everyone for the amazing support! Just you WAIT - cool stuff coming!!!
BTW....don't think it's been mentioned and I'm sure some people know but for those that don't..... Up and running - http://www.velocitron.org/
