A friend recently loaned me his The Bullmak Story book. What an amazing publication!! Tons of amazing pictures. But I have one major question: Does anyone know the scoop on that missile firing Ghidorah on page 70? It appears to be vinyl or some type of hard plastic, but I'm wondering if it might have been a protoype for the diecast Bullpet. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.
Whoa....bizzaro! I woulda checked my copy and replied earlier, Myles...but it's at my mother's house. I recall this photograph now...I don't have anything concrete to add, but I'm guessing it's a proto for the Bullpet. I've never seen this sold before and it's clearly got the whole Bullpet-style launcher going on. Frankly, I like the production version much better.
Its hard to top the actual Bullpet - its one of my favorites in my whole collection! Based on the green within the chest, its some kind of hard plastic. If not a prototype, maybe a kit?
It was a plastic "Puzzle" type model kit. i think I have the box, but not the kit. There was Goji and Mechagoji as well in this series.
This Ghidrah kit is a little larger than the more commonly seen uni-puzzle Ghidrah (blue one, they also made Godzilla, Gigan, and MechaGodzilla). It came either by itself or in the "Toho Trio" box set with Godzilla and MechaGodzilla. The Toho Trio box is fairly difficult to find. It's pictured on page 72 of Yuji's Godzilla Toy Museum book and on page 40 of my own book.
I managed to snag a copy of the Bullmark book and, while I wish there was at least one pic of my boy JJ, had to post to say it is epic. Nice, simple layout that is all about the pics of the toys. And the added marketing material is great, too. If you have the means, I highly recommend it. -- jJ
