paint can definitely add to a sculpt but a great sculpt doesn't need any paint, the og goga unpainted is a masterpiece
I think it was a proto for the Goga he had someone do, I can't remember now and it's too early for me to go hunting through past threads about it. Hopefully someone knows off the top of their head, otherwise I'll hit the search later today.
That model and all of Anraku's sculpts are done by the guy from AtelierG-1. I'd love a vinyl of that sculpt!
The sculptor and owner of AtelierG-1 is Shigeki Okuda. My very first Anraku piece was a one-off Goga painted by Okuda San. Turtletooth, you called it....the new version Goga is def more like the figures based on the original Gojira maquette/prototype. Very similar to what toygraph, pilot ace, M-1 and others have done. Looking forward to seeing it's progress.
Thanks for the info Ralph. I didn't know what the sculptor's name was. That cat has some serious talent. I love the way he transforms the animated characters into 3 dimensions. Anraku has done some of the header art for some Atelier G-1, I guess they barter. I asked about the Goga/Gojira maquette relation and was told "Yes, You are totally right. That is ANRAKU's concept."
Wow! Thanks turtle and oni. This is some serious education for me. Okuda-san is great. I own his Maxtoy Hedorah. Great sculpt and paint apps.
[quote="Ici la - viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9125&p=113942&hilit=Goga#p113942[/quote] those gogas are things of beauty. the clear one is spectacular.
They are so crazy...love em! The clear is really fantastic, my only criticism towards it is that the material used for the skull inside the head was too heavy. If you look closely the clear is leaning slightly forward and the head is sinking down some as a result. If I were to display him, gravity would eventually tip him over as the vinyl gave. I think I'll still keep him though...Ha! Jeff, how old is that pic of the goga maquette on the wooden base?
Wow! Great Anraku news on the goga coming in 2009, can't wait....ralph, those gogas you own kill! really really drool worthy
