Not too sure where to place this... but Alex showed me his new poster for the upcoming Tura show and Windy city Comic-con. I was floored when he showed me the Guiron/Tura print. It's in the style of the old Japanese posters
I emailed Alex to buy this print a week ago. He sent me a PDF of higher res images of a lot of his work and a pricing list. Great stuff. He mentioned that he has projects with Mark Nagata in the works too! The Tura Satana pieces are limited to 40 prints and a portion of the proceeds will go to Apna Ghar, a domestic violence shelter serving Asian women and children and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer charity. Great stuff!
Really nice poster - one of my favorite gals!!! Was this done in conjunction with the low-brow gallery show in Chicago Mitch O'Connell put together? It open Thursday the 30th and Tura will be in attendance. All the art has to do with Tura Satana. BTW - anybody going to the show? Can you get me Tura's Autograph?
I will be going opening night. Send me a request if you want You should be able to buy some.. but they are limited and he will be selling some at this weekend's Chicago Comic-Con Here's Alex's link, You can email him too http://alexwald-art.blogspot.com/
okay, after reading Alex' blog i now know why the name sounded familiar - I have a ton of Estrus albums that he did artwork for! Great stuff and I wanna get my hands on that Tura Satana poster...way cool
Wow! I'm glad everybody likes the Tura x Guiron piece! I have a few more things along this line in development... As has been noted previously, anyone wishing to order these can do so directly to me. I'm kinda new here, in fact this is my first post! ---So I'm not sure if I can put up my address. Here's my blog address--pretty sure that's already been up: alexwald-art.blogspot.com. As far as the requests for a print signed by Tura---all I can say is "I'll try!" I'll definitely be at The Tura show opening and hope to get prints signed. BUT I'm one of about 40 artists in the show and we expect a huge mob scene. I can't guarantee Tura's availability to sign stacks of prints. I'll post a report here the day after the show. Thanks again for the good words. And it's nice to know I have a fanbase in Queens--thanks, CCPfan!
I had the pleasure of meeting Tura at San Diego this year, and she's one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. 'Twas a huge thrill for me; I felt like a total geeky fanboy. Wish I could make it to Chicago for this show . . .
Great poster. I love the idea of the show as well. Can't wait to see it online. Please post a link when the show goes up.
