I think you'd run into the Joker playing Nicholson thing all over again. Defoe is way more established as a psychotic character than Ledger, lest we forget Boondock Saint's. Edward Norton plays a psycho too, but I think it's much more of a calculating psycho like the Riddler should truly be.

Actually this is funny, we were watching Kubrick's The Shining last night, and I finally noticed the Joker as Nicholson thing. I guess I was too young to notice as a early teenager and not really scrutinize it. But he pretty much acts exactly like himself and smiles that exact "Joker Smile" in several frames of The Shining.

And no matter what the casting can't be worse than Spider-Man 3. Ledger could act circles around the kid from that 70's show.

Funny thing is I love him in That 70's Show but good god does he suck in Spidey 3. I think that if the movie as a whole is half as entertaining as Begins was that even a little bit of crappy acting by Ledger can be easily overlooked.

Lets be fair...everyone sucks in that movie.

Superhero movies should stop at 2 per decade. Xmen 3 and Spiderman 3 both jumped the shark.

OH damn, I'd like to stay on track with the Batman, but yeesh. Yeah both of those movies listed above were awful.

Up until the last 10 years though all of Marvel's movies were campy, cheesy, and god awful. Dolph Laundren's Punisher, The Hoff's Nick Fury, etc, etc.

Now Batman the movie there was a classic, there were thrills chills and the world leaders being turned into Kool Aid.

I hope if they do more, and keep the same line up (Bale/Nolan) they do more interesting villains, even if I end up hating Ledger in this as I predict I might. I think bringing back Ra's al Ghul would kill, the whole Lazarus Pit and all and just introducing the character on a deeper level with a mainstream audience.

I'd like to see Nolan do Mad Hatter. Killer Croc would be cool too of course.

i thought from the previous trailer he was trying too hard to be jacks joker, but this preview made me change my mind on that for some reason. i still dont think he looks too good, i hope watching the whole thing will change my mind on that...

The Lazarus Pit with Ra's daughter would be an amazing story, but it would be interesting to see who be Ra's daughter.

Nolan doing Mad Hatter would be amazing, even though he's always been kind of a pinch hitter for batman villians.

Croc I've always seen as more of a pawn character than anything else, any story I've ever seen with him, he's always been working for someone in the shadows. I think a story with him would end up getting kind of corny.

I would like to see a Nolan Mr. Freeze. Give him the sleeker design from the animated series. I always found his character interesting in the animated series.
