Congrats to Grumble Toy in producing its first toy in collaboration with Amapro... http://grumbletoy.blogspot.com/2008/04/introducing-wormrah.html I think it meshes the child-like appearance of GT's drawings with Amapro's rougher style of sculpting. I wasn't sure about the character before seeing the finished toy, but now I am impressed. Definitely looks like something that you could discover at the bottom of a consignment shelf in Nakano Broadway! EDIT: Yes, I know GT is a Canadian website... North American Idols.
Heya, Thanks everyone! We are very happy with how the little guy turned out. Amapro did a great job on it. I think it captures the feel of the original drawing, and Amapro's style. Which is exactly what we wanted. We will be releasing it on the 19th. It's balance is fine. This was my only real worry about choosing to do a worm toy. He has a nice wide base that keeps it from tipping over.
Very much so. I love those drawings and it's a pleasure to see that this turned out so well. There have been some really great western/Japanese collabs lately but this may be the first that didn't lose real kaiju-ness in the process (if that makes sense.) Especially with that great paint job, it almost looks like a vintage figure. Congratulations 3x3is9!
Congrats! and hope to see a custom at the Kaiju Invades NYC show. Amapro did a bang up job with this one.
Hey, Thanks again everyone! I'll pass the nice words on to Amapro, and Ainsley. They are in the mail now! They are a graphite paint scheme. Hope people like 'em.
This little freak landed on the frontporch this morning... Wormrah looks great in person, cute yet vicious at the same time.
Yeah I got mine last week, I love him, a bit smaller than I thought for some reason but even more awesome.
