Its pretty simple. Just ask for a international money order, they will ask where its going, you say Japan, they say how much in US dollars and BAM your good. Wrap it up and send it out
So if it's in US dollars, that makes it: 6,750.00 JPY = 58.6381 USD Ask for around $59 USD to be safe?
No but I should have. I just slipped into an envelope and sent it off which in hindsight was moronic. But they were closing and the lady helping me was eager to get the hell out of there.
You guys shouldn't be giving advice on sending IMOs in US Dollars. He told me if he got an IMO in US Dollars, he would just send it right back.
See, that's what I heard (from this thread). But the PO is adamant that they have NEVER issued IMOs in any other currency than US Dollars. And what's the deal with registered mail? Why do we have to use it and what's so special about it?
Registered because Garimpo wants YEN in cash mainly...and registered is the only way you can send $$$ without it being opened and stolen. The PO will seal it with their brown tape.
Alright, so now I gotta find a place where I can get hard currency yen and then shell out $15 to ship a flat envelope. It's a good thing this figure is awesome...
I think this is why they never offered their stuff to US customers before, just the difficulty involved...but now that Exo is world famous... You could always take a chance with an IMO, but you never know...This is definitely the most trouble I've gone through to order a piece but like you said...it fucking RULES! Totally worth the effort.
well fuck. looks like i'm out some money then... people said international postal money order and you can only send those in U.S. Dollars. so people who did this for the galtan just sent cash? i've waited in line at the post office 3 times for this too.
You never know Rhino, the guy could be looking at thousands of dollars in IMOs in US dollars...could be enough of an incentive for him to bite the bullet, right?
he accepted my international postal money order for the gid galtan in us dollars. why don't the dude just pick up a paypal account?
i repeat,,,you need to send yen cash in a registered envelope,,,like khanate said... the uk post office will not make international postal orders in yen either & i know that garimpo only wants the currency in yen.. playdoh,,,i think you are mistaking garimpo and exohead,,,garimpo has not sold the GID galtan,,,only the garimpo galtan so far...
This is exacyly what I was told !!!! I also guess I maybe out my money. Its not easy to get yen. You have to have a bank thats large and even then they will have to order it and then have it delivered to you. I sent an IMO and like the others sent it in an envelope That would suck if I get screwed and they just keep my money and send nothing !
Yeah, it's a tough call - maybe the Japanese are only just starting to come around to the fact that there's a die-hard market here for their stuff and some are a little reluctant to join the Paypal system (can't blame them, PP basically sucks in numerous ways)...they sure do like bank transfers though! Hope it works out for everyone. I doubt anyone will lose their $ though...unless Garimpo is run by an 18 year old Kid Rowboat seller
garimpo seems really on-it...i highly doubt that they would keep your M.O. lash.... if anything,,they will probably just send it back to you... why is foreign currency so hard to get in the states??? you should contact citibank,,i am sure that they can get you yen without much hassle.. it makes sense that most companies in japan do not use paypal,,since paypal is basically the same company as ebay & there is no ebay japan..
Dear fellow ExoHead connoisseurs, on 9/9, was on holiday in some place where the Internet is yet to be discovered... sooooooo, anyone STILL having an extra to spare, please (pleaaaase) pm...
I had a shit load of Swiss currency, before the Euro obviously, and I couldn't get my bank to exchange it for me. I was told it costs the bank too much to hold onto foreign currency and it doesn't get used enough so then it just sits. Looks like I’ll be cashing in my returned money order and then hitting the airport to get yen….this is a pickle. Maybe he’ll change his mind about the Money order. But the Post office website says it will not send the money in anything but US currency…
Thanks for the heads up, I plan on going tomorrow morning. I'm hoping they either have it or it will only take a couple of days to get.
