Considering how steady release schedules are, new releases that are popular AND good looking undercut older releases that don't manage to hold their appeal in the face of new additions. Some stuff goes flat for me when new figures come out and the old figure looks shitty in comparison. If I had a choice between let's say a kinnikumin skullbrain or a bloody balzac obake, I'd go with the obake. I haven't got the obake, but since I got the brain and don't like it as much as the obake, why be stuck with the brain that I now think is shitty? If I could sell the obake to get cash for a GID ghostfighter the day after I got the obake, why not do that? Some releases are like video games, you buy them, enjoy them, and then it's over. Shelf life varies to make a pun.
I guess I was taking a cynical jab at people not making smart buying decisions. All, I'm saying is impulsiveness and greed shouldn't be the key motivations for purchase of toys. You should buy toys because you like them and they make you happy. Of course, tastes change, but they shouldn't change every time a shiny new toy drops and you need cash to buy it.
Be careful not to mistake impulsiveness with greed . . . example, word was the Bloodpirate was an über limited 55 run, so I hit BIN the first chance I got, 2 months later it turns out Lowsk8r has a shitload too . . . availability and release information are invariabley sketchy often forcing collectors hands . . . Buy now or be prepared to be buttfugged or held to trade ransom when the item's sold out! BTW I think the Bloodpirate rocks and it makes me real happy, so it's all good!
I'd say oversaturation, too many, too fast. But it's also a Kozik product so hype is always part of the equation.
I won that prize! It my only Ika. All I had to do was get all worked up and write a filthy story about being anally probed by Biagaos...ahhh...those were the days
Yeah, but I wrote it from teh perspective that it happened to Loco566, so it couldn't possibly have been me, right? Hey, isn't "Buggered by Bigaos" a track on ACH's new one?
u know, oddly i've been thinking about this all day. the problem with right now is, NOBODY should be paying this much for the vast majority of toys that are discussed on this board, certainly not as a habit! but they are!!! i guess, i think using such a high figure as a reasonable benchmark for a toy just seems utterly insane. spending that much on a toy should be a decision that bears some serious fucking thought first. anyway, i know u weren't necessarily saying that figures as high as $400 are standard amounts to offer for toys u really want (not trying to attack u about this) but it really has become that way for many buyers around here. and it got me thinking about the high figures people are willing to lay down on a regular basis
