@The Moog have you ever come across any Combex moulds? There must be some out there and with the proximity to Swansea I’d like to think some made it to the South West.

I've seen a few go on ebay over the years, usually for around £500 or more. Nothing of particular note. I remember a collector friend on Flickr saying they sold off a large bunch many years ago, also on ebay. Like someone was clearing a store-room. I think they shared molds with the Italian toy maker Ledraplastic too, going way back.

I think the Combex in Swansea was a different company ... i maybe wrong though ...

I bought a bunch of vintage Combex catalogues a while back. They cost me a fortune, but they're very rare. The earliest catalogue says Werrington, Peterborough for manufacturing. The only other address mentioned is their head office in London. I know they also had a factory in Australia for a few years, but that had something to do with Marx Toys ...

Interesting, thanks for the link. Its weird with Combex Creations Ltd, they have a considerable amount of surviving toys on the secondary market to this day, but information about the company is scarce. I've never figured out exactly who bought who in their mergers with other companies, because of the conflicting histories online. No definitive time-line it seems ...

Vintage Pluto. Blow mold body, rubber head and tail. Hard plastic ears and collar. He's about 5" high.

Ledraplastic Jiminy Cricket from Italy. At 10" he's considered the 'small' version. There is another one at 16" high.

That's for the Florence toy museum, not the Venice one. Its still a cool video though, thanks for sharing.

Vintage Combex Lamb, theres an unusual squeaker placement on this one. The head is articulated and the squeaker is hidden in the neck joint.

Recent Paris flea market finds. Any ID on the bow tie sporting elephant appreciated.

    it's rare, I know that ...

I've never seen that one before and I love it. One of the joys of collecting these sorts of toys is the occasional surprise discovery ... you can add things to your collection you may never see again ... just lucky to grab it when you did.

I should clarify, the elephant without the cap! The one with the cap and bow tie is a Mobley. The taller elephant sports spats as well and is made in Italy. Google lens thinks it is a pig!

Yeah, i've seen the Mobley one many times. The other one is on the Venice Toy Museum website. Its listed as miscellaneous, which i think means he doesn't know who the maker is. Considered 'not easy to find'.

I've never seen this one before and its not in any of the catalogues i have, so i'm going to say its rare.

Vintage Topo Gigio by Rubbertoys Italy, he's about 6.5" high. Listed as a 'Pig' ... but he's a mouse.
