Who's coming to Creature Vision? I'll probably arrive there straight from the Bay still shaky from the road.
I'll be at creature vision, I like how tight-lipped they've been about it so far. Definitely very excited for whatever they have in store.
Regarding Marusan and Monster Patrol for DesignerCon, there's going to be a show at the Monster Patrol store in Little Tokyo where the DesignerCon exclusives will be for sale from Thursday to Tuesday. Between Thursday CB pre event, some of the Japanese toy makers back and MVH making the hike, it’s going to be pretty full on. Now I’m reading there will be some Gargamel presence at the CB booth. I got manic fast last year and that was a low year… I’ll be sure to stash plenty of chill pills to survive the weekend.
Sup guys! I’ll be at Dcon! Don’t know if I know anybody in this thread but everybody have a good Con!
Unfortunately can’t make the Dcon trip but if anyone could try and help me out with a art print that is releasing for Dcon. Hit me up!!! Have fun everyone.
I'm at Dcon right now Let me know and I'll see if what you wants still available after I get my stuff.
still on the fence about going because i really want that zollmen galtan that creature bazaar is doing but i have no idea if thats a micro run or if theyre selling it tonight etc. i will be stopping by monster patrol in little tokyo to check it out though
Lot of fun this year. It felt less crazy than last year… I imagine because CB wasn’t holding the fort for all the neo kaiju scene (while establishing themselves as the heart of it). It seemed to me like there were actually more kaiju than in 2019? Anyone able to confirm this impression? Glad to have seen some of you again, met new people and left with a couple of dollies! And I didn’t go manic at all, so that’s a personal win…
This was only my second DesignerCon, the first being the 2019 show, but I felt like the number and quality of dealers at this year's show matched 2019's. I'm not sure if the attendees were spending as much money on Sunday as the ones on Saturday were, but it was a good show for Marusan, and they plan on attending the next one.
Has anyone heard anything about how vendors did at DesignerCon? Marusan did well but most of the sales were on Saturday. On Sunday it seemed like there was a similar number of attendees but they weren't spending as much money as the folks from the day before. I was surprised to see many exclusive toys still on the tables at the end of the show.
Hmmm. Wondering, was that due to tight economy, declining interest in the hobby, a glut of available product, or perhaps a combination of two or more of the above or none of the above? Interested in hearing from producers that came in from out of town if the trip was worth it or not.
I came from Vegas and vended, it was 'worth it' (where else can I ever sell weird monster shit) but my second worst year (and my first year with vinyl, so bit of a bummer) That said, I'm an unknown and was positioned 100 miles from any other toys - not sure fans of weird monster toys would ever get through the CB and adjacent miniature city of sofubi gods to see the small fry. I blame NFTs for no reason, because I fear and hate them.
Sunday has never really been a hit since they started this 3 day thing. honestly I think you could do Friday VIP half day, and Sat and call it done. Sunday usually is just a ghost town, most folks break down by mid day.
Next year is also slated to be the week before Christmas. rumors are going around that ComplexCon go the dates at Anaheim before Ben. so that's why the push til the week before Xmas... travel the week before Xmas is going to be insane, with the pricing to match.
Hopefully they dont bump the booth pricing as dramatically this time (was a big jump, they seem to get bigger % increase every year of Anaheim whereas Pasadena was a steady small bump per year) Maybe I'll just rent a hotdog cart and fill it with toys and stalk whatever event CB has pre-dcon.
