@---NT--- I watched the entire Expanse run in about two months, and it really was worth it. My understanding is that they were originally contracted with Amazon to do only three seasons, and they wanted to make six episodes that were heavy on action and effects instead of ten or more episodes that weren't as intense. I think they struck the right balance, these episodes have felt more "cinematic" than previous seasons. I do agree the "strange dogs" storyline felt a bit out of place, perhaps it would have been more appropriate as webisodes as opposed to the content they broke out featuring Amos, Bobbie, Peaches, etc. I would like to see them do movies after this, we'll see what kind of a deal they can reach with Amazon. Finale spoiler:

The Ty and That Guy podcast did a very good wrap-up interview with Dominique Tipper and Stephen Strait, and Strait pointed out how the series starts with Holden turning down a job because he's immature, and then in the finale, turning down a job _because_ he has matured. That could have been one of my favorite moments in the series. Go Drummer!

@smurph I want to hear what you think of that series finale. Watching seasons four and five back to back are going to push the story into some strange places. I think the actors have done a fantastic job over the seasons, there's a real growth that you see in their characters year after year (not positive growth, of course). I feel like they really transcended the original premise of the show.

I gave Peacemaker a shot with the first three episodes but won't be watching any more. Aside from John Cena's performance, I don't feel like this really warranted a series. They take a character whose defining characteristic is that he's totally without a conscience, completely willing to murder anyone, and then they put the character into situations where he can (and even should) do this, and he doesn't. I don't understand why they need him to do this, anyway. Using a gun isn't a superpower, and I thought the United States government already had plenty of people who can do that. Great dance moves, though.

@Roger Drummer is the one character I found myself liking WAY more in the TV series than the books. Honestly, I don't have much recollection of her from the books. But she's tied for my favorite character in the series - tied with Avasarala! I'd love to see a Drummer spin-off!

I really didn't warm up to Drummer until Season 3. She and Ashford were an excellent duo.

TV Drummer is a fusion of several book characters (Drummer, Bull, Michio Pa and some more (Sam I think)).
This makes here so prominent in the series and just one among many characters in the books.
Also, Cara Gee just lifted the character to a whole other level!

I just saw Big Man Japan for the first time. It's on Amazon Prime right now. I was chuckling the whole way through. It's kind of a cringe comedy, but not quite as intense as The Office or something like that. The kaiju are hilarious. I know the guy was a shitty dad, but it seems like he also had a shitty dad. I was glad he had a lady friend in Nagoya. The CGI had exactly the right level of reality for this movie.

I also liked that you got some nice slice of life in Japan at the beginning of the film. I liked just seeing streets, shops, the park, the train. good stuff

Um, so, why haven't I heard anything about the new Kids In The Hall season that came out sometime this year? I'm only two eps in and it's amazing! Amazon Prime.

Agree. So fun, so good to see them back in this format. A few duds, but mostly very enjoyable. Hope they get to do more!

Anyone watched The Bear on Hulu?
It’s one of my favorite new shows in a while. Real people living real life… after watching Stranger Things and Umbrella Academy it sure felt refreshing. And it does stands on its own, everything from acting directing cinematography is great.

Recommendation for Prime viewers: The Booksellers. It's not just about the trade, but the phenomenon of collecting. Check it out.

I'm still about 5 years or more behind the rest of you. Caught up with Mr. Inbetween and Happy! Just finally finished Gotham. Currently watching an old and very cheesy Russian series called Secret City. It has some nice moments although most of the humor is pretty elementary.

Great show; highly recommended here. Fantastic mind-fuckery; fearful symmetry. Theme and soundtrack by Theodore Shapiro is perfectly unsettling and wonderful, also. Looking forward to Season 2.

ditto on Wallace and Grommit! Watching them on weekends. Since I haven't seen them in many years, it's like watching w/new eyes. Dazzled with how fun and inventive they were.

Speaking of mind-fuckery, new season of Westworld's interesting in that regard. Better than last season. Really gets going in ep4, Generation Loss.

Very good. One of the few shows based on a comic that could fully stand on its own. Hadn't heard of the comic 'til that show. I still have nightmares about the villains.

Better Call Saul winding down. Grim, dark, unpleasant, outstanding. ‘Plan and Execution, episode 7, wince-inducing nightmare.
Will the show finish with redemption for Jimmy or an end similar to Walter White? Seems like a bad ending to come, however there’s an obvious humbling to the Saul character that did not occur with Walter, so maybe Jimmy gets out alive.
Great show, phenomenal final season. Minor distraction: actors playing younger versions of their characters from BB, but they look older not younger. Most noticeable with Jonathan Banks and G.Esposito, tho both are superb in character.
