Unfortunately, the textured piece is embedded in the clear plate. That would be my one gripe about the item.

@KaosHead , that looks similar to a light table (used for drawing/tracing art) but if it lays flat, then you can put toys on it without them sliding off. 900 lumens is roughly the same as a 60 watt bulb. It has a dimmer but if you find the light is still too harsh/bright, just put paper under the toy to filter the light.

Nice efffect with that! A flat light source that is smaller and more portable than the old fashioned florescent tables would be excellent to have. The skullwing is sweet as well!

How did you make it jet black? I know what Robert uses to make his amazing photos...but is it fabric or paper?? Great shots btw.

The background is a sheet of some textured material that does a good job of reducing light reflection. Found it from a hobby company in Japan.

I upgraded recently from a $20 light tent to a $100 light tent, and I'm very happy with the new one. I still need to do white balance correction on my computer, but I'm only using my Pixel 6 to take pictures, so my in-camera options are limited.

I especially like that the light intensity is variable up to 30 watts (and this is for LEDs, so very bright), and the leds are mounted a few inches back from diffusion material, so the light is bright, but soft.

If anyone wants my old lightbox (pretty used; link here) will trade for a Bwana finger puppet or similar :))

    Here are some snaps:

This is before white balance correction.

This is after white balance correction (I pick a pixel in the upper left corner and say it should be pure white).
