    RxH Fortune Cat Question
My daughter recently went through her stuff and gave me back some toys I gave her when she was little. One curiosity (for me) was this RxH Fortune Cat. It looks like it's on blue vinyl and is completely painted on the outside with a pale yellow. I only picked up a few of these for my kid and did not really collect them for myself. Was it common for these figures to be completely painted over the vinyl? Or do most of them show the base vinyl color.

I've got over 50 of the mini neko. The majority of them show the base vinyl colour, but if they're a shiny metallic they're mostly metallic paint over clear vinyl.

I'd say fully painted over a colour vinyl is unusual.

Thanks for the feedback! I thought it was odd. There is another weird thing with the paint, where a different camera phone seems to see the paint as lemon yellow, instead of a pale yellow color in the picture. Makes me wonder if a blacklight would make it fluoresce. I may have one somewhere.

I have noticed that the earlier runs from 2007-08 seem to use the base vinyl as the primary color, but going into 2009, there were more completely painted runs. I think this also corresponds to RxH's shift to making larger runs in the same base vinyl and painting different micro runs, versus pulling different vinyl colors for each new set of figures.

I've wondered the same thing, but it's not uncommon. I have a bunch that are completely painted over, masking glitter, or even very close color matches. Although speculative, my guess is, instead of running a new batch, he might just grab whatever leftovers he has on hand. Even his matching colors (specifically the blue one I photographed) is a different color than the base.

Wow, I was obviously wrong. Fully painted is not unusual then.
