buying one of these and displaying it equals wearing a hat with 'MUGMUGMUG' printed on it.

I actually like the toy, not that I’d buy it. Maybe if it was like 100 I’d consider it. But I like it, I like the figurative shape you get when you flip it, it becomes pineapple kaijin. it’s interesting and very unique. Probably the most unique vinyl offering I can recall seeing in several years. Though I’d rather have the wooden sculpture. It’s always odd to me using a soft plastic to replicate a medium like wood. I think ceramic would have been better for an edition. Not to give NNN credit for the toy. His paint apps on it- I like half of them. That soft yellow and pink camo is really lovely and fitting on the toy. I wish all the paint apps were tropical like that.

In my scant time on the planet, I have found people that are constantly bored aren’t necessarily brilliant and worthy of our praise. They often just lack the capacities to find what is interesting in the people, events and places around them. They are also frequently totally self- absorbed.

    Which is boring as fuck.

As far as the new toy, no comment.

At first glance the price seems absurd, but I don't know Ryuichi Ohira's status in the Japanese art world. Looking at his portfolio (some of which I found impressive), the pineapple was the least remarkable work available for viewing. Of course, art is subjective. Context is always important, but I don't think having any would effect my opinion on this particular piece.

I appreciate the pineapple for its ability to resurrect this always-entertaining thread. True paranoia never dies.

It reads like they’re pushing to make NNN an art success story. My guess since so many designer toy artists have been dipping in the blue chip spaces. Good for him.

too bad it’s not that inspired. I mean, if it’s a reference on the art historical context of pineapples. It’s a few intro-to-contemporary art courses late.

What is the significance of pineapples, other than colonial-era hospitality and modern swingers?

It’s in a lot of paintings as a stand in for that. Luxury across time. You got the other relevant connection. That’s pretty much it. Hence my, entry level course reference

I like this "bugzapper" analogy, but this pineapple only zaps ten bugs that have 275,000 yen in their pockets.

Definitely a different group of collectors than those combing the interwebz for 10 year old Gargamel toys...

What appears to be a new sculpt of the recent GMK Goji is now on the Nag site. I think this roaring version is something special, with its hugely contorted jaw. Of course I know nothing else about it, including the price of entry.

im kinda here for this. some of his paints on goji's were really whaaatever imo. but this new sculpt is distorted enough to be fun but not pushed all the way to edgy rotting status

Kind of pushes it into Goji being horror related for me, which I admittedly do like with this take. I’m with Manny that majority of his Goji paints were just there; not even that impressive or attractive in my opinion, but this does hit a lot of “right” buttons without being over the top or too exaggerated. And the M1 GMK Goji is the hardest sculpt of the Toho beast to exist, again, in my opinion.

Would love to hate it but this Goji looks pretty good I can’t lie. I can never sacrifice my love for Godzilla and this sculpt while being a little tech still has a nice deformed feel to it (similar to what I liked regarding Passion Tank’s Shin Godzilla). In agreement with Robert that M1号 still do it best but I would honestly pick this up if it wasn’t limited and at an extortionate price. I hope this doesn’t drive up the price of all GMKs in general on the market, let the false be satisfied with endless Desugojis.

    Cool.

Probably not worth the 10million yen price tag it will come with

These really should have been shared before. Though I understand it can be hard to view anything Shig touches objectively, I think (I think) they are wonderful sculpts and masterfully painted. Photos courtesy of Medicom Toy.

NNN x Medicom? Wow, well I guess you get what you ask for, after all. Still, that's a head scratcher. (and licensed, too)

Shig and Medicom go back at least 5 years or so. I believe the first Yotsume BE@RBRICK was released in 2016. They released the Tara McPherson Zombie Ice Baby last year... that may have been their first soft vinyl production together (unless I missed something). There's also the one-off 6ft Four Eyes that was released at the Akashic Records event, but that was made of FRP.

Did any of those Zombie Ice Babies ever pop up on Instagram in anyone's collection?

Really, really like these new Nag Goji sculpts, especially the new one. The nasty distorted jaw is sooooo gnarly. Wish they weren't so limited, but c'est la vie.

I’ve liked all the Nag gojis. I missed the entry for the 1st and lost the lotto for the last. Truthfully they are just making me want to custom paint one of my M1 GMK Godzilla’s. I would love to see a paint app like the last 2 releases on that sculpt. I’d be able to live with that.
