Anybody see those crazy ending prices for the standard size Bandai/TakaToku RainbowMan guys? http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g121732660 http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f128409919 http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/a ... n124685078 http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/a ... m113390559
What the....? I am guessing this is all because each of those is in very nice condition, which, yeah, the Japanese collectors value highly, but man, that is a lot of premium. Unless you are looking to archive these for a museum or something, I would never consider that. They are beautiful to look at to be sure, and I always love seeing original tags and packaging, but one of the beauties of having 'loved' toys is I can still play with them (yes, I regress often).
The last auction, the Rainbowman. I just saw one of those without the backing card go much lower than that. I thought the mask had the eyes cut out, but I guess that's how this one comes. Weird, same backing card as my removable mask Rainbowman but with the body of taller Takatoku version. Mask is different also. I'd love to get a list of all the versions out there, bootlegs included, but that would be one long list. Reminds me I have to take a better pic of the bootleg mini I got.
Posted this in the Takatoku thread so forgive me if the double post verges on irritating but I thought I'd show the love for Rainbow here as well. The DVDs are all currently cheap in Japan if anyone hasn't given it a watch. Top stuff and quite controversial for it's time!
