LOL! I saw this in Tokyo last time around but didn't realise it was a recognised 'pastime! Sneak attack . . . sticking 2-fingers in the recipients butt! #onlyinjapan
Haha, yeah. It kinda reminds me of this weird stance Takeshi Kitano does. I cant remember the name of it . . .
After just watching "Boiling Point", I can assume that they're both related. Btw, if you haven't watched Boiling Point yet, get to it! It's been on my list for a few years, then I finally come across it on Amazon Prime this weekend. It is one quirky ass film, but pretty darn enjoyable. There were a few times I laughed harder than I have at a movie in awhile. And to piggy back off of this, apparently Yakuza: Ryu Ga Gotoku capsule toys were announced in February and are now on the streets for 200y a pop. I'm not sure of the material, but they look like keshigomu. [Images pulled from http://yakuzafan.com/new-official-yakuza-capsule-toys/ ] And I love these - some virtual gacha machine action.
Found the full "Monster Apology" from page 1 in a store called Tomodochi (St. Paul, MN) today. He said he'd hold it...
@boon velvet As far as I can tell its by a guy who has a museum / huge collection of COSMOS gachapon machines and toys (a famous vending machine company that went bust in the 80's). It looked like he does interactive talks for kids / parents about gacha history and is known as 'Whacky Gacha Man' or something.
Thank you , @The Moog . I really enjoy the book content shown in those images and would like to pick one up. If you ever come across more information on it, please share. Thanks again

^^ I like that the birds and tigers are engaged in leisure activities, but then the deer and ram with the hammer just does not seem to fit. Why are they especially bent on revenge? Or do they have hammers so they can hang stuff on the wall? I confused.
That's funny, @blakewest, because I was (am) confused about this gacha set too, but with the birds. The rugs and head mounts are the result of trophy hunting, but where do the birds stuck in their houses fit in?.. WAIT, it's a cuckoo clock! Ahh, okay... The design is weird, but it makes a bit more sense now; stuffed dead birds were once used in cuckoo clocks. @blakewest , I think they're all supposed to be enjoying themselves in the state they're in (all as decorative home pieces also), so the deer and ram with hammers means that they support the head mounting. At least that's how I took it. They look like a couple of horror movie monsters tho. I don't know, it's a weird one, which is why I wanted to share it. I see what they were tryin to say, I think, but I 'm not sure the idea is totally fleshed out. Ha, probably best not to think about it anyway.
