My sister gifted me these for Christmas because i'm a huge Tolkien / Game Of Thrones nerd. They were all actually quite good. The Hobbit beers are by Fish Tale Ales out of Olympia, Washington, and the Valar Morghulis is from OmmeGang Brewery out of Cooperstown, New York. Had the Thrones one last night with a couple bratwursts, parsley red potatoes, and sauteed mushrooms. Fuckin' party.
Picked up a 4 pack for Easter, couldn't resist cracking one open after dinner. If you drink Blue Moon, do yourself a favor & stop supporting Coors. After that... get yourself some Clown Shoes.
Oh man, Flying Dog beers bring back soooo many awesome circa the year 2000 memories. They tended to be the brews of choice during my Savannah days. Well, that and PBR, depending on our wallets. Gotta love that Ralph Steadman touch too. K, so lookie what I just found - Kaiju! Beer, an independent brewery out of Australia, not only has "the name" that makes me want to give it a try, or the nice design work by Mikey Burton (http://www.mikeyburton.com/), but many claim that it's Really Good too, as read in a number of reviews I found while tracking down their website (http://www.kaijubeer.com.au/). Plus their roster is full of beer types that I like. [Images taken from Kaiju! Beer's site: http://www.kaijubeer.com.au/] They're also responsible for Golden Axe Apple Cider. [Image + More Info Here: http://goldenaxe.com.au] "Kaiju" may have become more of a household term and used in some god-awful projects now (think Kickstarter), but if the beer is as good as they say, I happily welcome it's existence. Can anyone here vouch for their deliciousness?.. Good or not though, I want this black shirt.
nice, anything on the bottle cap? ^ shot them a message on FB about any cap art and stumbled upon this http://www.kaijubar.com/menu/ anyone here involved?
not my pic but I am enjoying some Founder's Curmudgeon at the moment. Its a lot like a barleywine without as much burning.
While I am disappointed in the overuse of the term kaiju in places, I am sort of intrigued to see those beers. The fact that they at least dug up some Ultraman characters for some of their inspiration leads me to hope this in appreciation. I would love to try some, and also dig a shirt from them if they are available. Did anyone have a chance to try any or check out any more information on the brewery? @ G - great pickup man. Gigantic does some really nice beers, if a bit pricey and harder to come by in Canada. Hope it was a good'n. @ psilo - beer could be moving back into 'unfashionable' category, which would leave me just as happy if hispters and others who profess being 'experts' could just leave the appreciating and microbrews to people who enjoy beer. BUT, in any case, stouts all year round; that is the [un]golden rule.
Someone gave me a kaiju red for my birthday last year .... nice but a bit too bitter for my taste... they sell them across the road from me so maybe I'll go and try some of the others as the red is supposed to be bitter
I am sorry. Was there supposed to be a beer in that photo? Because I am having the damnedest time seeing it.
anybody using Untapp? I've been using it for a while really good to remember beers and how your tastes change over the time if you want to follow me username danlordx /Daniel Lugo
I used to use it all the time. These days there is so much good beer available here I dont even bother. I pretty much recommend any New Zealand craft beer these days, especially anything from Liberty Brewing.
Oy, veh! I'm gonna point to this photo anytime the wife complains that i have too many toys. Nicely packed shelves!
LOL Agreed about showing your significant other this pic,. Completely off subject but I had some old DJ friends from NYC over this weekend who had not seen me in many years that were dumbfounded by my toy collection. They literally spent an hour gazing at them then said "So you probably have the biggest kaiju collection in the US right?" I laughed hysterically and said "Nope not even close, I have a tiny collection. You should see some of these collections. They take up large rooms in houses!, in Japan a guy has a museum that houses his collection!"
I've been watching this new show about San Diego Craft Beer scene, has been pretty good so far http://video.kpbs.org/program/kings-craft/
been enjoying the golden monkey transformed to a sour tripel. Sour Monkey. pretty great and very affordable. 9.5%
interesting! I was at Victory last week & did not see that. I had the Milk Stout on nitro, good stuff. I have been eyeing this for a while but have yet to take one home. Seems like an awesome summer beer & EvilGenius does subtle fruit flavors really well.
^^yea only at distributors I think for some reason.. I love nitro tapped beers! really changes the beer, kinda crazy
One of my neighbors had a driveway full of beer so I took a second to talk to him, turns out he started a website selling mixed cases in collaboration with a local beer distributor. He introduced me to a neighbor around the corner who is also a beer snob & we all talked beers for a bit. I keep to myself for the most part but beer tends to bring people together. We traded a few bottles, I gave up a Weyerbacher's 20th for a 2014 Founders Backwoods Bastard.
some sour beers in long beach/seal beach , CA at beachwood starting oct 6th. admittedly, i dont know anything about sours but im looking forward to this to just try them out.
