I'll support it because it toy related, but this show is well .... Meh.

However, towards the end my wife spotted Joe in the background .... So she says.

I watched a clip with the rocket firing Boba Fett, which was kinda cool, but damn that host is annoying.

This is how I see it ....

The toy community generally hates flippers ... This show is about a guy who hunts toys for resale.....

    See the problem ...

They are trying to make it an American Pickers for toys show, bad idea.

If it was a guy scouring the globe for his personal collection or a hired hunter that would have been cool. Also maybe learn stories behind the toys and makers etc. for each eppisode.

thats what I was thinking. the dude seems douchey and just wants to make a buck. He geeks harder on making the sale than he does on the toys.

I kind of want to beat the host up. Watched the clip. Why if you were in the market for buying a rare figure would you start off by saying "Some people are willing to pay 10000 for these?" Oh yeah that's right he wants to try an double his money. Yeah the host is a douche.

the host guy is a douche.
but it was cool seeing the tomart warehouse.
i love how the guy didn't give a shit that the tron packages were damaged when the host guy was freaking out about it because he didn't plan on getting rid of the either way.

    Which is insulting to collectors.

Not to mention, he seriously thought some dude in a home made cosplay suit had 20 grad to blow on a toy ?? Seriously ???

And I'm totally not buying that last guy grabbing that figure for 17 grand, shit was fixed for TV.

After it was over I just shook my head.

I'm tired of TV channels finding 1 hit show and thinking it will work with everything.

Rich actually I'm tired of anyone getting a show on just about anything. Seems like everyone gets their 15 minutes only it goes on an on for years. Glad I don't own cable. ;)

Lixx, that is pretty much my problem with all reality tv.
For the most part it is just paying a bunch of horrible cunts to be even worse horrible cunts.

So true, dont get me started on that subject. I'm just trying to accept it the best I can.

On a positive note, a reality show I've been enjoying is Face Off. Its a show about special effects artist. As a sculptor and painter I can sort of relate. It also has high douchery moments but that is the norm it seems.

That dude was seriously trying to bend the one dude over for the M.A.S.K. stuff.

The host reminds me a lot of this doucher that owns a vintage toy store near me. I've had many verbal battles with this dude because he tries to pull fast ones on people who don't know much about toys. When I was 12 or so, I went to his shop looking for vintage pez (my gateway toys). He had a dispenser in the case labeled (and priced) as the Creature from the Black Lagoon, but the head and stem weren't the right color. When I inquired about it, he just started arguing with me and explaining that I was wrong, a 12 year old child.

The last straw was when I decided to give this dude another chance and stopped in 2 summers ago looking for kaiju. I asked him if he had any old Ultraman/Godzilla figures. His response, "They never made those! I tried finding them as a kid, they never made those."

    I walked out...

i watched this show and hated how he took the creators and designers of those toys for a spin-

to my knowledge it was a one off show, cable listed it as a "documentary" instead of a series. i hope it will stay that way.

the only thing i thought was cool was the home alone toy!

And the bubble guy, I wouldn't drop anything near the sort of money they were asking but if I found one at a carboot sale I'd be happy.

this show is the stuff that 'meh' is made from. at least from the clips. the reason 'american pickers' works is the 3 leads on the show, not the template. you force that template onto an unlikable flipper, and well, you get this.

that dude isn't passionate about toys, he's passionate about payday.

I just finished watching the whole thing, and it was worth it if you're a toy nerd. I'll definitely agree that the host is obnoxious as hell, but it's clearly a show based on the American Pickers mold. I liked seeing all of the personal collections and toy company employee's untouched boxed stuff and prototypes. I'm glad I don't collect action figures anymore and just have an expensive sofubi habit to take care of.

    O hay guyz better git ur mad bubbler <a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thundercats-Mad-Bubbler-custom-/280823357566?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416260607e\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thundercats-Mad ... 416260607e</a>

After watching how the 'Toy Hunter' found his missile firing Boba Fett in the first place and seeing that it was a never released prototype version, I can now better understand its rarity. However, the question is who & how to determine value? Its usually the buyers. Since this dealer only seems to be selling vintage toys, for me, he is not a 'flipper' the way we usually use this term on the board. I am not quite convinced that the $17,000 paid for it and all the circumstances surrounding it is absolutely for real but it sure looks genuine. It probably is on the up. Its amazing that anyone would pay that much for a dinky PVC figure.
