I just listened to the entire Ratt discography 2 days in a row.
I don't know why, but it must be the hair.

During their heyday in the '70s they were sometimes ridiculed by rock fans as "bubblegum," but they definitely cranked out some hard-rocking songs early on. Their first seven studio albums are all classics, not a bad one in the bunch. (The last great one being "Out of the Blue.") I loved them until about the age of 14 when the then-emerging punk rock took over, and I stopped listening to them for decades. So recently it's been fun to revisit. Strongly recommended if you like strong pop/rock songwriting and performance. In retrospect I think they were vastly underestimated.

I'll have to delve deeper into those earlier albums! Thanks for the info - very helpful to narrow it down to just a handful of albums.

Today was 2 Tone day..... Specials, English Beat, Madness! Made myself I nice little playlist and blasted them off my ipod at every light I caught on my way to class. Love that I got weird looks from everyone while wearing my straw trilby.

OK, that was totally awesome and I am going to have to pick up some albums by these guys. The soundtrack to "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is one of my lifelong favorites. If you like that cover, check out the original soundtrack album (the composer was the great Bernard Hermann.) It makes cool use of theramin in addition to being great music across the board. As good as the original "Star Wars" soundtrack.

    Thanks again for the recommendation.

EDIT: Hahaha, I had no idea it was Trey Spruance's band. (Roddy from Faith No More is an old friend.) Love good instrumental bands. Are you familiar with Man or Astro-Man? They were the greatest surf/sci-fi/hot-rod instrumental revival band of the '90s.

I just downloaded the "Saptarshi" single from eMusic and put the rest of their albums in my "to buy" basket. Jeez, how did I miss the boat on this group? Oh well, there's never anything wrong with catching up. I didn't hear "Songs from Big Pink" by The Band until last year.

I'm off to see Jesus & Mary Chain for free (Thursday at Buffalo Harbor place free events). Mind you I saw them in the late 80's and early 90's when they were damn fucking cool but now that they're middle aged men (well so am I!) the verdict is out. I guess at least I'll hear good music. Hate crowds though (and kids). What the hell it's free and what else am I going to do?

HENDRICKS GIN Time .... mmmmm hendricks....

Big fan of everything "good" in the genres of rock, punk/hardcore, metal, pop, soul, hip-hop, older country, etc...

The past few years I have been on a major disco/boogie/80s RnB kick.

Anyone ever check out this blog: http://beatelectric.blogspot.com/ ?

The author seems to really know his stuff and the archive is awsome!!!! A lot of MP3 files and mixes also up. A great resource for any funky vinyl junky.

    So how was it?
Did they play some Psychocandy-tunes and let their guitars feedback?
