Hey everyone, so after much searching I finally was able to score one of the mini pink Kanegons from US Toys...I had a few questions about it and the company in general is anyone knows: 1. My mini has an indentation on the left upper chest. the spray is intact so this makes me think it's part of the sculpt...anybody else who have one have this indentation? it's like a small pill shape. 2. why are these so hard to find? does anyone know what the deal is on US Toys distribution or are these just made in super limited quantities. (I know I missed a S7 pre-order on this, but since then I haven't seen any comes up anywhere...until I found one by chance at TT) 3. what other type of stuff do the produce? I'm really only familiar with the Kanegons both big and small...do they have other sculpts? thanks!
Yes, this is part of the sculpt. I think now that S7 is offering these as pre-orders that maybe more are being made. Older versions, from what I understand were made in very low numbers though. They make a ton of toys - everything ranging from the single boxed "builder series" minis to the mid size "Soap Bottle" series to the giants like the Kanegon and the newly released Eleking. Releases cover a wide selection of characters.
m3k, is it this kanegon here? http://www.flickr.com/photos/sndbyte/2319307502/ If so that's a nice score! Anyone know if US Toys have a web site? I've not been able to find one and would love to keep up on news from them.
I think that represents Kanegon's change counter. US Toys Godzillas suck, stay away from them. Just send me the links to the auctions.
US toys make TONS of figs and always have a good selection at the shows. If you have ever checked out my flickr site - I often try to take a shot of their set-up . I have faithfully avoided buying their toys because I just can't afford to open up new line of collecting. .. or so i thought until their recent Wyndam and King Joe sculpts which are just sooooo nice and tight and cute that resistance has proved futile.. plus you cannot beat the price on these suckers. They also make those silly cats that people are ga ga for. Superfestival July 1, 2007 Superfestival April 29, 2008
These aren't hard to find at all in Japan. US Toys usually sells at the toy shows and they rarely sell out of anything. I guess they're not super popular, so dealers aren't into stocking them?
Maybe Koji's right and online retailers buy very few pieces... but they do sell out quickly. I want that godzilla fighting with Gigan on datadub's second pic and a tokyo Hedorah BAD.
If there were a group of folks interested in a bulk purchase of US Toys to split costs, I'm sure I could find a few things I'd like to own. I could be speaking out my a$$ here, because I wouldn't even know how/where to organize such a thing. Sorry if this is a not kosher thought on S7's board.
Mandarake in Nakano usually has a pretty good selection of these at sub-retail prices, too. Sometimes they get a little silly with the price gun, but generally they're very reasonable.
If anyone wants to get rid of their crappy red Ultraseven U.S. Toys minis I'll take'em off your hands.
yeah, that's the one...i've been searching for one and finally lucked upon it last night...so happy to finally get him! thanks for all the info everyone, gonna bookmark that blog...
For reference sake, that's not directly US Toys blog...it's a fan (who lives near their store) blog but as you can tell he's a big fan. Probably one of the biggest reasons a lot of other stores either don't carry them or not many, is that they seem to produce/make/distribute a lot of them for Tsuburaya's online shop. And it's probably pretty hard to compete with Tsuburaya's online store pricing...specially if other stores try to charge more for it
I love this stuff. The US Toys squeaky Booska is highly underrated. He's made of super squishy vinyl, and has a squeaker in the bum and in the belly. They're both a different tone. Plus, he's enjoying a bowl of ramen, AND has googly eyes. What's not to love?
I hear that. the elation of finding the mini pink Kanegon melted away as I saw that mini Pegira in Don's pictures cast in the same vinyl color... help!
Interesting. Thanks for the correction. In any case, this is a great reference for all the up to date U.S.Toys releases and the only one that I know of. I'm pretty sure free marketing from a hardcore (just down the road) fan is most welcomed.
Joe, I don't even collect minis and yet I'm so tempted by your pic. I just picked up the giant versions recently and I must they're my new favorites.
