I wonder if they made room in the budget for a plot this time.

I'm actually hoping they remove all plot and just have robots smashing the shit out of each other.

The thought that last robot in the teaser is just one Constructicon and not Devastator is enough for me to probably overlook plot.

I'm not expecting it to be good, but I want to see it anyway. I'm with AladdinSane; no plot--just robots kicking asses.

the optimus prime toy (leader class) is really impressive, btw.

That hits the nail on the head- I thought that exactly about the Twins characters, made me feel very uncomfortable-

I think the Ku Klux Klan would have hard a hard time coming up with a more offensive sterotype.

Amazed there hasnt been more of an outrage.

wow. I might not see this.

That's a low blow. Jazz was I guess the "black" transformer in the first one and when he got killed, I laughed and said "figures".

but damn...this is pretty lame. The writer asked if the voice actor was black, would it have been as bad? Yes. it's still pretty lame. It's not like I need to find a transformer that I can "identify" with here on a cultural level or whatever, but as a black person, when I see the characters that are supposed to be a wink in our direction, I really hate that it's just a steroptype; ign'ant, jive-talkin', foolish, super-cool, and let's not forget ONE DIMENSIONAL. It's like "that's how they see us". I don't know anyone like that. And even people who are like that, aren't like that, lol.

If they want to include a character to reach out to the non-white audience, then just write a cool part, and have someone of color voice it. that would suffice. We'll see their name in the credits--probably recognize their voice, and be happy they got to be a part of a movie we all wanted to see-- even though we were going to see it anyway. we don't need the shuck and jive, thick accent, kung fuey, chopstick throwing, bullet catching, taxi driving, dopey look, and everything else. And if they are using the twins in this movie to reach out to young people, I think they're insulting them at the same time. Sadly, it might work though.

It's like we're all going to go see this movie, and there's this 2hr 27min black joke. makes me feel uninvited or something. Oh, but wait, tyrese gibson is in it. that makes it OK.

eh, but I'm not pissed. just a little disappointed on a few different levels. When people get pissed about stuff like this, ppl tend to not take you seriously anyway.

    end rant.

Rather than ask, "why would robots from outer space sound like jive-talking homeboys," ask "why would robots from outer space have two arms and two legs, or be shaped like scorpions or jaguars?"

Come on, everybody's intelligence is being insulted here. ;p

Didn't they learn to talk from our TV/radio and that's also why they chose humanoid forms? I mean in the movie. I can't remember, I just remember a lot of explosions.

    So silly!

I like how the writer assumes that they are supposed to be balck. Why can't they be white kids that act stoned, talk in slang, and can't read? We don't have a ton of them running around these days. ;)

yeah, but unfortunately, ppl don't associate that with being "white".

There was a lot more ass-kicking in this one, and it looks real good on IMAX. I do think this movie surpasses the first one on nearly every level except the sountrack and score.

really? I don't expect it to be "good", but so long as it's not worse than the first one, I'll be OK. gonna take some kids to see it Friday. hrmmm

For the most part, all I wanted to see was more robot fighting, and there is plenty. Plot is crappy, but not as crappy as the last one. Careful with the kids. The Autobot twins drop a good amount of profanity.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think Megatron was more of a wimp in this one? He also looked a bit smaller as well.

I think we are all overlooking a hugely important aspect of the film, that clearly needs some discussion:

    Megan Fox.

For the autobot twins being "stereotyped", the African americans around me were laughing the loudest whenever they talked.

jeez...what a bummer. haven't seen it yet, and think i may not be. to think my lil blue transformer skids....from Japan, would be the same incarnation causing "robo blackface" scandal almost 25 years later. WTF?

i thought it was just alright. there was definitely plenty of action, and some of the fights were very intense. and megan fox was beautiful of course.
