Skullbrain X Release 04: Monster Worship + Michael Skattum 10th Anniversary Commemorative Toys The fourth release is here! From Monster Worship and Michael Skattum comes the Skullbrain X Slime Bat (aka Aqua Fresh Slimebat)! Cast in crystal clear vinyl filled with glow in the dark bbs with clear green and silver spray paint accents, this guy is exclusively available to Skullbrainers. Stands approx. 6" tall with one point of articulation. Slimebat was created by artist Michael Skattum and sculpted by Monster 5. Produced and painted by Monster Worship. Sofubi vinyl toy, made in Japan. Not intended for children under 14 years old. To be as fair as possible, each Skullbrain X release will be sold via lottery. In order to be eligible, members must have at least 25 posts on the forum prior to entering the lottery. Be on the lookout for info on how to enter in the next week. We'll give plenty of warning before starting the lottery, and the window will be open for a while to be sure everyone who's interested is able to enter. More info soon!!
Words cannot express how excited I am for this! Been waiting for this. I am pacing with excitement! Whew! This is my favorite toy OF ALL TIME!
I'm sure they will be nuggets of sofubi genius to delight and inspire us all! . . . or just more inane n00b shite to wade through!
I've never held one of these in hand, so I'm surprised it's only one point of articulation. I assumed the arms were articulated at this size. That's pretty cool that the whole body came out as one pull. This version looks great. I haven't seen a BB-loaded toy in a while. Good luck!
SoftoyHobby.com let the cat out of the bag on this one, so be prepared for the clamoring of the noobs... Goddamn it, I miss lowbrownie. At least they kept (most) things on the downlow. I hope we all have enough umbrellas (or do you Brits say parasols?) to endure the cascade of shitposts.
Lowbrownie wasn't much better from what I remember, especially early on. The thing is you only have to be logged in to even see skullbrain X right? It'd be another thing if it required you to already have had the 25 post minimum achieved. Though there are a lot of lurkers in the community from even years back. Who knows!
True, but after people sent in complaints the guy running it got sympathetic with collectors and held back certain info from his blog. And that's where the problem lies... Either the guy running the site is on SB, or someone tipped him off. Though I guess it's not much of a tip-off if all you need is to be logged in. This place isn't secret either, but it sure sucks when some newbies waltz on in and get their grubby "I'm going to change my mind about this toy in two weeks and just flip it" hands on 10th anniversary commemorative toys. You know, I might as well post what was said word for word. ^ all of my nope
You slap "anniversary" on anything and it becomes meaningful for one of two reasons: #1 You actually are glad to have something that commemorates a milestone achievement for something you're a part of #2 Resell value when you sell to someone who feels like example #1, and the sweet flipperoo profits you'll gain But such is the sad song of SB
Love the Skattum style! Excited for this~ what a beautiful colorway. I'd love to add some aqua fresh to my lemon lime...
I suggest another rule that will make any word through the toy grapevine insignificant to non skullbrainers. To qualify, you must have been a member prior to the date of this announcement. Cause y'all are right, of course there will be an influx of those joining specifically for this release, meaning that they'll most likely check out of participating after it's over (until the next one). Which kinda defeats the purpose behind a skullbrain exclusive release if anyone can join and hit that 25 count in time... It only really matters because chances to win are going to be taken from the already sb community. Edit: This is a really nice version, btw; my favorite sbx release so far.
I know people are excited about these releases and don't want a bunch of prospectors to join, hit the post count, enter, win, and leave, but honestly that's not been happening. I don't think there's been a single person who joined after the announcement of one of the figures and reached the post count in time to enter.
I think you all can relax. Every release there is this paranoid fear of "newbs" coming and getting all the toys. It's never happened. 1, or 2 people come and most fizzle out before 25. It's going to be okay.
Ha, I like that. "Prospectors" is the perfect title. But do think about it. Can't think of a reason why some rendition of a rule along those lines could hurt. For the preventative, whether they're here or not. Always best to put the fence up before the wolves get at your prized cattle, not after And compared to the previous 3 releases, I wouldn't say any extra guidelines were needed before. Could be wrong, but to my knowledge this is the first sbx release announced in the toy blogs. Why wouldn't they come a callin? Any of us who like this piece would. Anyway, that's my opinion. Moseyin on now.
^ I'm not against the rule, but I think we'd need to wait until the next release to add it because it hasn't been stated beforehand.
