I almost never post anything political but thought that today is an important part of American history.

I was going to post a pic of some of my collection in a rainbow pattern but I think I'm missing a color or two. That and I'd have to rearrange the toys.

Between this & not gutting affordable health care, there are many sad Republicans!

I wonder how that pastor that said he would light himself on fire is doing today?

Great cause for celebration. It makes being American slightly less embarrassing.

I read about that. He's probably going to change his tune and he only meant it "metaphorically".

At a certain point today, article links a-flyin' at me, I realized I had to just let go of reveling in all the delicious schadenfreude towards the dissenters, especially (of course) the laughable Alito and the FUCKING INFURIATING Thomas... and just get swept up in/purely enjoy/be thankful for my country turning this corner. Great day, indeed.

I am thankful to see that, even with all the shit that goes on regularly, once in a while people can get together to get things right. It is unfortunate it has taken so long. Congratulations America!

    History lesson for all!

First & foremost, grats to everyone who has been waiting for this day as it really is a big deal.

That being said, the 10th Amendment in our Bill of Rights states the government only has the power granted to it by our Constitution, a response to our break away from Sovereign rule by a king or queen with unlimited power. The SCotUS cited the equality granted by 14th Amendment to justify their ruling that marriage is a right. The 14th Amendment was created after the Civil War to guarantee the rights of freed slaves, using it for the purpose of undermining the 10th amendment is astonishing to say the least, especially when the second line in the Bill of Rights guarantees a right to bear arms yet we don't have national reciprocity. I am licensed to carry firearms in my home state, but I would be treated like a terrorist if I crossed over into a neighboring state.

It is great that same sex couples can enjoy the same rights as everyone else in this country, but at the same time this should put a spotlight on other rights explicitly guaranteed by the highest law of the land which our government tosses to the side in favor of something entirely fabricated. A government that wipes their ass with the Constitution & circumvents the balance of power is the very same thing that this country formed to break away from. Please think about that when you are making your rainbow pics on Instagram & Facebook.

I'm all for same sex marriage, have gay friends and relatives which I'm very happy for but I'm a little tired of the internet looking like a bag of skittles was dropped everywhere. Sorry it's overload IMO. My g/f jokes we need a straight flag and symbol since gay people get one. Equality for all! But no seriously, glad the republicans were defeated ten ways to Sunday on every front. Bastards.

I agree with the above 2 posts. While this was bound to happen sooner or later, I feel like we might have been better off just letting each state slowly join the fold, rather than scotus decide the way they did using the reasoning they did. I worry it could set a precedent for making such far reaching rulings down the road that perhaps are not so completely in the best interest of the people.

Rainbows are definitely tacky as shit. It seriously warms my heart seeing all the support, but all the garish rainbows everywhere I could do without, and not just in reference to recent social media stuff, pretty much anytime I see rainbow pride stuff it is poorly designed cheaply produced garbage. Unfortunately I think it's too late for us gays to re-brand at this point given how well known the rainbow flag is as a symbol to basically everyone in the developed world, but would indeed love to see something a little more classy usurp the rainbow, however unrealistic that is.

Does this mean I can post pics of my wee wee on Skullbrain finally?

Just kidding! Congrats folks! I am not going to wade into the constitutionality issue out of ignorance. But I am all about the equality. Looking forward to attending some weddings of close friends in the near future. Congrats.

Our 4th Amendment is supposed to protect against illegal searches. How many people will encounter a roadblock while celebrating Independence Day this weekend?

I am not even trying to be ironic.

There are actually 2 flags for straight folks. One is for straight folks allied with the gay community. The other is just the opposite. I only found this out when a friend of mine posted a guide to Pride flags.
