Yeah I get charged the fees as well. I'm ok with that though honestly. It's literally a one-person operation he works his ass off.
Oh yeah he definitely works his ass off and I don't mind paying the fees, I was just curious if other people do it. By paying the fees I mean I add the PayPal fees to my end and send funds as goods and services.
I had a fun visit with Nari San last month on my trip to Japan! His studio - A visit with Nari San by Doug Hardy, on Flickr This is the area he does all of his sculpting. Small but efficient! I saw the next 2 months of figures that are coming. I think everyone is going to love them. I told him I'm definitely going to have to get on the list haha A visit with Nari San by Doug Hardy, on Flickr His manga collection is amazing and quite select. Lots of first editions of his favorites. Nari and his wife also played some great old tokusatsu records they had. A visit with Nari San by Doug Hardy, on Flickr Nari said that this was the first anime he saw in a theater when he was a kid. Eventually he became an animator himself. He told me he worked on UruseiYatsura 5. He realized though that being an animator wasn't going to be able to really make him a decent living. This explains where he got the skill to make those great little stop-motion Dokuro Tarou movies. He also informed me unfortunately those shorts have been put on hiatus indefinitely since his video camera broke recently. I asked about him possibly using a smartphone instead but he told me that he doesn't own a smartphone and has no plans to get one. I think that's a pretty smart move actually haha. I'm still wanting one for my collection... A visit with Nari San by Doug Hardy, on Flickr TOP SECRET PAINT STORAGE AREA A visit with Nari San by Doug Hardy, on Flickr Nari and his wife Midori were really gracious and we did some great touristy stuff in Nara as well. I look forward to visiting them again sometime.
I see Microman! Thanks for sharing the photos... always interesting to learn about the people behind the toys.
Very cool. I don't collect elegab but it's awesome seeing the studio/area of work. I always get the impression that elegab is one of the good guys out there. Creates new toys and marches to his own beat.
Also he mentioned he started the Kaiju Prince line because smaller figures sell much better in Japan. He told me the vast majority of sales of the larger kaiju are outside of Japan and a great deal go to America.
Also the other day Nari announced on Twitter & IG that the last original color Disk Kappa has gone to a new home! He still has some black ones left. I'm contemplating either getting one or holding onto my points and seeing what the next prize will be.
WOW! So cool you got to visit his studio. No smart phone, and he has the same Vestax record player I do makes me like him even more lol
Nari's computer that he did all the home page updates broke down, so there's no longer going to be updates on it until future notice. His twitter and IG will be updated still though.
Love this guy! View this post on Instagram Hope some boardies had some luck on these! If anyone one the set and for whatever reason wants to trade or sell this little smog king, please let me know!
Too bad for Nari-sama that all his tech stuff breaks all at the same time. Unlucky indeed. Hope he will be able to get his page up and running soon. Plus he can get more of these little flicks with his Kaiju battling each other. Really loved them. Luckily he can still hold the lotteries and the kaiju prince line just gets better and better. What’s gonna be next? Do you sit on any intel @TattooDougHardy Making the trip to Nara and visiting the main man himself must have been spectacular. I’m very jealous myself... Now when we have a mini Smog King, what should be next? I just wants more and more of these in all honesty, but a kaiju Prince Dancheera would be cool.
