I have never seen any blanks offered for display and sale like this, outside of the micros. I am just guessing that it was to show the originals (without paint), but hey, if there were blanks offered up to the fans there - particularly if they were more abundant as they wouldn't need to have Oohashi-san's personal paint application (which, let's admit, is just bonkers on these) than so much the better.
That far left figure is definitely painted on the same color light vinyl base...I can’t imagine why the painted sets would use a different color base vinyl, especially with how consistent and fair Oohashi has been with pricing.
Jtsui1105 stated the painted set is on flesh sofubi. Hence why I was wondering why there was a blue unpainted set on the table.
I sort of think that is correct, judging by the tones of the three together, and the parts which seem not covered by paint, it is sort of a lighter yellow/fleshy base. I think the blue on the hands of the guy on the [image] left is a nod to the original/vintage paint scheme, which he also applied to the earlier Goji release.
Pretty sure if you go back far enough through pic archives, you can find other blue blanks On display at the Buta booth. I think they are test pulls either meant to show off upcoming sculpts, or the current for sale sculpts.
I follow Anthony, my apologies if I sounded snarky, was not my intention. I thought they looked to be painted on blue vinyl initally, hence my comment. But @Jtsui1105 probably has them in hand or saw them at the show. After a closer look they look to be on flesh vinyl; I agree with the other folks. Regardless they are a great looking set. I’m not big on blanks but I’d actually like a set of those light blue test pulls (or whatever they are) as well.
No need to apologize Lee. I did not think you sounded snarky at all. I just was not sure if you saw Jtsui1105 comment that they were on flesh vinyl. Jeff, now that you mention it I do recall prior shows having blue blanks on the table with the painted at the events. Turning older is really effecting my memories.
Thanks for the info! It was hard to tell if they were mid size or not, due to lack of arm and leg articulation. The paints and sculpt details look great on this trio!
I have them in hand. They are standard size but 2 parts each. Or maybe that is mid size for those toho kaijus？
Hahahaha, that Ziggy Stardust! Man, what a pretty brilliant tribute. I can't say it is something I can ever considered corssing over with the toy world, but hey, pretty darn cool. Lovely new Kanegon, too; this is going to be an exciting release. I think I prefer the earlier versions of the Go! Godman trio though; just my own preference for fun colour scheme. It does seem sort of unusual (or at least, I can't recall it happening before) that he does a variant/re-release so soon after the first versions, and this is almost immediate.
Ha! You beat me to it Anthony! I know, aren't they gorgeous?! Stevie, I like both colors, it's great to see a spring pastel set. Mr. O is certainly creative with his paint schemes, and so nice to see another version of Kanegon! Little Puckey looks like a scrumptious piece of candy!
Yay for new Buta... Also yay for my wallet since none of these yell 'buy me now'. I'm really hoping we get some different currently relevant Tohos making a debut.
So with the recent butanohana release, did anyone score ? Bc i didnt see an option to email or buy from him, yet ppl are already getting the pucky and kanegon in the mail....
