Oh yeah, the Agora. They get some great bands..thats in Cleveland. Akron used to have the Lime Spider downtown- great bands there. Annabells in Akron, total dive bar with good bands every so often...but yeah all the really good stuff goes through Cleveland.

Most of the old tire factories are still standing....a few torn down or renovated into offices. Goodyear is the only one still operating, they make racing tires here

Yikes...other Golden Flashes and Akron people on the boards. This world be tiny. I guess I would call myself more of an ex-Clevelander than an ex-Akron person, but I'm not sure. My living history in the area went Kent/Stow/Aurora/Beachwood over a period of about seven years before I moved out-of-state. I guess that's half and half.

And, yes, I can only assume that living in Akron long-term would result in a) your creativity being honed to such an extreme that you could escape into your own mind or b) your creativity being crushed utterly and ground into something resembling grey, mid-February sidewalk slush.

But, hey, there's the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, so it's not all bad. And Strickland's. Musn't forget Strickland's.

sneek peek...working on getting a figure made from my drawings....this is the clay "sketch" by the sculptor. The final will have shorter arms, stubby batwings, thick scale covered body armor and some other minor changes. As for now the plan is to rotocast it in the USA and have it packaged in a bag with header.

I did not sculpt this as my skillz are limited. The guy who is doing this is way better than me and does it all the time....slated for winter release. As you can see it's gonna be sort of big, about 7 inches. I raised the $$ for it through sales of artwork, for that I thank you guys wholeheartedly.

Is ho gonna be resin? Or are you guys gonna squeeze in some articulation for vinyl?

  7. Greasebat

most likely no articulation, although I have to look into that with the guy making it. With the winged arms they wouldn't really be able to turn much, and having the head be able to move is not that important to incur the extra costs...

Right now the plan is rotocast vinyl. I had a reasonable price quote and I like the idea of big and hollow.

Thanks gentlemen, another peek. This is still in its infancy...the whole thing should be completed by about December I hope. The body is going to be covered in armored scales ( the sculptor added a few here ) , the legs will be wrinkly folds. I'm excited.

I always loved this figure even when you introduced him in your drawings/prints. It;s really nice to see him materialized in 3 dimensions. Good Luck.

    Awesome Jeff.
It may be rough but it looks really great so far. It looks exactly like the 2d art. Well done.

New to the forum, hello. The masks are a great idea, I wore a few of those vacuform sweat and snott collectors as a kid trick or treating, ahhhhh good memories. And I agree with the others, sculpt your avatar, it would make a great mask. The silk screen art is very nice also. PROPS!

I'd like to, but it's not in my hands...its down in Mexico.

thanks again for the kind words, it should be a reality in about two/three months. The maker does them in batches of 30. I'm hoping to keep the price as low as possible.

I can honestly say I'm more excited about this guy than pretty much any Japanese sofubi right now.

Seriously can't fucking wait. He's already looking great and I'm sure it'll only get better! Here's hoping for a clear version!

thanks everybody, I'm stoked too...and I rarely use that word! The first run will only be about 30, I'll most likely get together some sort of pre-order list here and offer a discounted price to SB people. It's at least 2 months away before total completion. Once I have a figure in hand I'll be coming to you guys for painting ideas/tips. Heres another look at the side view mock-up.
