Decided to post some content over here for a dang change! Scored me an unpainted glow Parababy Mogera...and went at it with some glow paint. Enjoy!
Thanks! Hey, I just realized I posted this in the Vintage forum! DOH! I meant to put it in Japan Toys, as I seriously doubt Parababies quality as "vintage"! Moderators, please feel free to move this thread.
ya...i was thinking the same thing.....but didnt feel like pointing that out..... i love the way his eyes shine like headlights......
Glow Paint? For Airbrush? I had some glow acrylic for brushing on, but it went on very thick. If you could point me in the direction of the glow paint you used I'd be very grateful. Looks great by the way. EDIT: I followed your link, and answered my own question. Thanks!
Nicely done! I like that you're working with a venerable kaiju colorway. Those yellow/blue combos are always killer. Keep painting!
Thanks for the compliments, guys! Yeah, my general procedure and what specific paint/materials I used are covered in the CDX article. Real fun to do...and pretty simple. I don't even own an airbrush, so this is all me fumbling with a few aerosol cans! When working with that glow spraypaint, you have to work quickly, as the spray caps clog with glow powder *FAST*. Anyway, I don't necessarily care about movie-accurate color schemes in my glowies...but in this case, it was cool that I could come reasonably close to what this thing looked like in the movie...all with glow paint!
I saw this at DX - glad you decided to post it here too. Just gorgeous (and with spraypaint as well!) I really look forward to seeing more of your stuff.
Many thanks!! My next project's gonna be an M1 Jet Jaguar. Oy, the masking... Also, I'm now realizing this thread oughtta be in the Custom Toys board. Moderators, feel free to move this if ya feel so inclined!
The color scheme + the fantastic glow remind me of those light-up glow worm plushes that supposedly made yer kid feel safe at night...sometime in the 80's Gotta see this!
