    Hello, my name is Cam!

I am from Portland, Oregon and my favorite toys are Cojica, Elegab, and Target Earth. My collection is small and I’m still learning a lot and finding new favorites daily it seems.

I am excited to be apart of this community and thrilled to watch people post about their favorite toys and their various collections no matter how minor or major!

Thank you all and happy to be here!

    Hello Cam,
    Welcome to the madhouse !
Some people might bark a lot but nobody bites (or at least no one complained about that).

    A sincere Welcome to you Cam, and glad you made it! {apologies again for the minor logistical hoops}

Look forward to seeing your collection thus far, and it is great to see someone coming in with established aesthetics (excellent taste, by the way) and not just chasing the latest [blank]. Enjoy the board, the community, and all the baggage information that comes with it.

PS - love that avatar, some great work by @SpectralNight !

Thank you for working that out and shout out to @SpectralNight for doing the legwork on that end. He also designs a mean avatar and is great friend! He actually triggered my interest in toy collecting and helped me get my first toy, a Cojica Spinodon, a few years back!

At the moment I love scouring the web for toys I’m unfamiliar with. It’s a cool feeling to find a new toy or maker and then deep dive into their catalog of creations!

    Cheers!

    What's up everyone, I'm Shane.
I've lurked here for 7ish months to learn as much as I can about toys and the culture behind all of them. Got caught in the weird time loop like everyone else and DCon last year was my first event, albeit online and I was like a kid in an electronic candy store. Summerslime 2021 was my first in person event and it was a blast. Looking forward to more fun engagement with this cool hobby.

Welcome to the board, Shane! A good starting point of discussion is what you collect (if anything in particular).

So far I haven't really leaned into a particular type as most of the stuff out there is so cool, but I generally have stuck to more modern/well known creators. I'd probably say Headlock is my favorite at the moment, very simple but so fun to look at. I have a small collection of Science Patrol and Draculazer forming. I mostly just love to see what people can put from a single idea to an actual physical version of it. I'm not artistic at all so I have a real appreciation for those that put their art and ideas out into the world.

Hi everyone! Long time guest, first time poster here.

Time and time again I've found myself finding answers to whatever sofubi question I had within these thankfully still alive forums. So I'm happy to have the chance to mingle and learn from the most knowledgeable minds in the hobby.

As with most here, I've had a lifelong relationship with Japanese culture since early childhood (1970's) when I was exposed to Battle of the Planets and Star Blazers anime on tv and wonderfully colorful newly imported diecast Popy toys from my Japanese classmates who lived in the apartment right below mine.

I've had bursts of collecting Showa era chogokin and manga throughout the years, (thank you Day Old Antiques in the 1990s), but I've only come to appreciate the true genius of sofubi in the last 5 or so years. I work in the video game industry way up here in Seattle, and I look forward to getting to know you!

    Welcome!

I have great memories of getting up early (6:30-ish) in the morning and watching Bother BotP and Star Blazers before school in the 70s.

It was the only time it was on and I remember, in the winter, wrapped up in the duvet from my bed, watching it when it was still dark and it felt like the world outside was quiet and everyone else still asleep.

    Good memories!

I remember them being on while dark outside too! I didn’t pay attention or couldn’t tell time back then. Don’t think I understood why or when shows were on tv either at the time. I remember my grandma hating woody woodpecker’s laugh, and Fond memories of the herculoids show haha.

Welcome to the forum @knights_of_old ! So good to have you here, and you've definitely come to the right place. Wonderful photos, and if that is just a taste I can well imagine the amazing collection you must have. You will find you are in good company here, with a lot of like-minded Showa-era fans of all sorts. While the vintage corner of the board has not been quite as active of late, don't let that deceive you; were are still legion and as passionate as ever. Enjoy the board, community, and all the information and virtual friendships it will hopefully bring. :)

Hey everyone; I'm Ryan! I've been an action figure collector for many years, and I recently took an interest in Soft Vinyl toys. I've been lurking around the forums for a bit, and finally got access to post.

I've got a small collection going, and am excited about learning more about the world of Sofubi.

    Hello people!
My name is Matt and I live in Springfield Gardens, Queens in NYC. I collect all sorts of toys and sofubi, most notably Bullmark and Marusan as well as smaller Bandai Ultraman and Kaiju figures. My laboratory and library is filled with a rather large amount of books, mags, zines, VHS, cassettes and assorted tech. I'm a guitar player in a few bands, Downlow, Darkside NYC and Disassociate and I create harsh noise and power electronics under the name Z.Z.Z.Z. I'm into Eurorack modular synthesizers and collect small run noise making devices.
I'm quite psyched to contribute to the forum and check out what's going on with all of you!

Welcome @Matthew Melnick, great to have you here. In terms of the Marusan/Bullmark collections, is that vintage, modern era, or both out of curiosity? You've come to the right place in any case; look forward to seeing some pics of your collection thus far.

I collect modern era Marusan/Bullmark. I started a few years ago. I really like the colors and paint style.
I also collect some Max Toy stuff.

Yes, it's definitely a gateway to more and more acquisitions! I don't have as much as some of the members here but I've tried to get some cool stuff to display and show off. I made a short toy unwrapping video yesterday. Not the most exciting piece of media, but I wanted to document what I got over the last few weeks. Please advise if there is a proper place to post this and if this is not it I will quickly remove it! (I made a short version minus the cutting and ripping of bubblewrap)

Hi everyone! I already posted a couple times in the outdoor kaiju photo thread but I figured I'd introduce myself here too. I'm Sophie, I live in upstate New York, and I draw/write comics. I collect all sorts of kaiju stuff, mostly sofubi but I have a bunch of X-Plus too, but my favorites are Yamomark, Anraku Ansaku, Mike Toys, and Dream Rocket. I've also done some toy design work, I designed Shin Eyezon for Max Toy with hopefully more to come.

I think that Eyezon you designed is awesome! I haven't bought one yet, but it's been on my radar since it's release.
