Hey everybody! I'm new to this site and I just wanted to thank all the contributors to this thread for the excellent information shared here. I'm sure you guys had to spend a bunch of money and time learning all this stuff and you're doing a great service to those of us who are just getting into this.

Thanks again and see you around!

I had bad luck with trying to get vcolor to stick to the sort of plastic an action figure would be made of... like a star wars figure for instance

does anyone know if it would stick to the plastic of a henshin cyborg body?

It ONLY works on vinyl. Anything else it will peel off of.

technical question...how do you get the hp-c plus to spray "spattery" like the green on the black/green chaos below?

I've always used the "toothbrush raked with your finger" method with straight (not thinned) vcolor.

thanks...i got another reply on the topic/technique as well. i thought i remembered reading somewhere that the model airbrush i mentioned had a way to "set" it to do the spatter but i guess i was wrong. oh well...

i think, and i stress the word think, that if you take the front ring( i don't know the actual name for it) off so that the needle is exposed, and then lower your psi, like to 10, you can get it to splatter.

Take a swig of V-Color in your mouth.
The nastiness of it will cause you to spray it out.
Be prepared to aim whatever figure you want to splatter right in front.

Sorry if this have been asked before, but is it ok to paint over a layer of paint or is it necessary to take off the paint first, anyone?

While you can, I prefer to strip "factory" paint as much as possible...some colors do not work well on top of/underneath other colors. Just my 2 cents...

Yeah sometimes even most factory colors don't work well if your trying to change the color of a figure... In that case I respray the whole figure white...

what is the best way to apply a little glitter to the surface of a figure? i thought about trying to add some to the clear and spraying it on, but it really seems like it would clog the airbrush instantly. is there a glittery paint? (moreso than the silver and gold already are that is)

    air compressors-
i think you guys covered just about everything-
But trying to figure out a few bits before i plunk down and get a new compressor. What is a good range PSI to look for. Extra tank is good yes? 1/8hp strong enough?
    Thanks.

i used to tap glitter out of a bottle on a wet figure and quickly spray clear over it. it's hard to get right, but it's the easiest and cheapest way to do it.
