^^ Nice, I like the colour of the car. This looks like maybe a bootleg? It has a rough charm that somehow doesn't suggest licensed . . . Toy manufacturers cannot go wrong with any famous character driving a car. It always works!
I enjoy going to garage sales, though the ratio is 1 hit for every 1000 misses most of the time here in Houston. I've managed to snag a couple of original, discontinued Disney Big Fig statues over the years, but nothing else really worth mentioning other than that.
^^ Its a lot of hit and miss here in the UK too . . . The only thing i can find online about these is from Italian toy sites, which is weird because when you hit this one all the audio phrases are in English. This was 20p at a boot-sale. Palla Pazza (Mad Ball). 5" high - 1993
Bought these from the same seller as above, £1 for the pair. They have a great sound with two types of 'laser' noise. After you have fired about 10 rounds you get an 'empty' sound effect and you have to pull the slider at the back, which makes a 'reloading' noise . . . . Silverlit Toys 2004
^^ Just bought another blaster at the usual weekend boot. This one was 50p. Love the sculpt and his Crab 'hand'. Half the fun of buying these random Bandai action figures is finding out where they are from. Turns out this one is from Beetleborgs 'Magnavores'. He has an extra 'Whale' mouth on the top of his head, too . . . Bandai 1996 More Pics: Spoiler r
I immediately thought Street Sharks because of the subject matter and time period, but those toys had a very specific large upper body, small lower body look. Neat find. That head is incredible.
^^ Yeah, Street Sharks are much more solid and heavier than the average figures of comparable size. I have a few but i pass on them a lot because they are usually in really shitty condition . . . Beetleborg and Power Rangers enemies are a bizarre bunch. They remind me of Barom-1 bad guys. Same sort of TV show, obviously. These below are from the same seller 50p each. Boxes of random action figures are very popular at boot-sales so i was lucky to get first look for a change . . . Galaxy Empire bootleg Chewie. I love these larger (6") knock-offs. I will be looking out for the rest of them. I found the Stormtrooper ages ago for a similar price. This is essentially a Takara Topspin but a Spiderman design and made by Hasbro in 2012. I assume Hasbro would have to pay Takara for the design rights but maybe they just ripped it off.
Damn!!! I am completely jealous of those Galaxy Empire figures you found Moog. What a delicious bit of treasure to unearth. I love me some SW bootlegs at any time, but finding such delights in garage sale hunts is an extra delight. I am with you, not only do I love all the KOs (of course) but putting them in that extra larger scale is that much more fun. Really great stuff man, that was an incredible find.
I just saw a few of those galaxy empire figures at a toy show this weekend. I regret not buying them. You definitely find some really fun stuff out in the wild. One of these days I should start posting some of the stuff I find.
Do any of you guys use any sort of online automation to find sales? I've started parsing a few local craigslist feeds for stuff that I'm looking for in particular with pretty good results.
No makers marks at all . . . . 8" high action figure. Most probably a bootleg for 'Skeleton Warriors'. Glows in the dark 40p at a boot-sale.
So cool! Crazy sculpt too~ never thought I'd see a corpulent skeleton! I actually have a couple of the Skeleton Warriors still in their bubbles somewhere around here....
^^ Haha, i thought so too. If the bones are that chunky the dude must of been as thick as a whale omelette with a tiny head. I could only find one reference to these online. The blogger has three of them. http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/for ... 37.0;nowap
The set of those skeleton warriors is pretty funky and fun, new to me as well. I think you dug up the best one of the bunch anyways Moog!
Yeah, thats what i thought too Its a nice figure for a bootleg. Very thick hollow vinyl, so he's quite substantial in-hand. The only other reference to one of these figures online was an old ebay listing. It sold for about $80, which sounds way too much to me . . . .
